All talk of winning runs and breaking records will be banned from the Coventry changing room before Saturday’s National League One game at Blackheath .

Cov made it ten wins in a row with last week’s 62-31 victory over Fylde – their best sequence since the 1974-75 season when the Blue and Whites chalked up 13 successive victories.

But head coach Scott Morgan insists that the side’s focus remains firmly on league position and maintaining their promotion challenge with anything else of secondary importance.

“We’re not thinking about it at all,” said Morgan. “Of course it matters to the extent that we want to go the rest of the season without losing because if we want to win this league, that’s probably what we are going to have to do.

“Even that might not be enough so we have got to think about bonus points as well, but that will come on the back of performances, which is what is really important.

“The chances are we are going to lose, but if it’s going to be in one game’s time or six, we will deal with it when it comes along. It’s not something we are worried about – we will do everything we can not to lose, but it’s not something that’s hanging over us.

“Ten on the bounce never got discussed before Saturday, although, to be honest, I think it does give the boys a lift.”

Saturday’s nine-try haul took Cov’s season total to 59, scored by 20 different players and exec-uted from all areas of the pitch.

“We are finishing well, but I think that comes from the phases prior to that,” said Morgan.

“If we do the phases well then the opposition just runs out of tacklers, it’s very difficult to get enough defenders in the right place when you are going back phase after phase. The key to it is going direct, taking the right options and asking the right questions.

“I still think there are things to work on, but all in all I’m really pleased with what we are doing and we have just got to keep going as a group, keep delivering and we will see where we end up.”
