Coventry Rugby are pleased to confirm a further three signings for the Coventry Rugby squad for the coming season, with two being exciting new backs - Ashley Elvers a centre and winger Dom Lespierre together with Jack Gibbons a Number 8 forward.
Ashley Elvers, has been training with Coventry Rugby all pre-season as well as taking part in their pre-season games. Ashley attended Denstone College and had a short spell at Northampton Academy, interestingly playing as a flanker until switching to Worcester Academy whilst attending the University of Worcester. Playing now either as a centre or winger, Ashley played last year for National League 2 North side Birmingham Solihull scoring 8 tries from his 22 appearances, and has also played for the Worcester Warriors Cavaliers side.
He has shown skilful ball handling skills whilst playing for Coventry Rugby pre-season and should prove an exciting prospect.
Dominic Lespierre, aged 27 and born in London is a member of the Guyuna World Cup 7’s side. Dom is a fast and elusive winger who has impressed in Coventry Rugby pre-season games. He has experience of playing in Australia as well as rugby league for Castleford Tigers. Last season back in this country Dom played part of the season at Hull RUFC in National League 2 North. Another exciting player Dom should fit in well with the expansive style of Coventry Rugby.
Jack Gibbons, aged 25 is a Number 8 forward from Leicester Lions. Jack has previously had spells with Richmond, London Welsh and Esher Rugby. Born in London he moved to the East Midlands in 2010 to run a family pub. Last season whilst playing for Leicester Lions he scored 12 tries from his favoured No 8 position and was named in the National League 2 North Dream Team by The Rugby Paper. Following recent news pre-season about Matt Tibbatts and Liam Munro, the signing of Jack Gibbons with his previous pedigree gives Coventry Rugby some much more needed cover in this pivotal area.
