The point was enough to ensure that United finished a point clear of the two relegation places in the Northern Counties League Premier Division.

So at the end of what has been traumatic season, Denaby who were founded in 1895, have been forced to close down after being given notice to quit the ground last September by the Denaby and Cadeby Miners Welfare Scheme.

A number of former players and officials were among those invited as special guests and the United players stepped onto the pitch through a guard of honour formed by the Arnold Town players to the accompaniment of the song "You'll never walk alone."

It was an emotional farewell but the club wishes to record their thanks to the management team of Glynn Kenny, Glynn Reeve and Ron Akers together with all the players for their dedication in competing the season in such difficult circumstances.
