Preston manager Billy Davies refuses to get carried away as he plays down all the speculation surrounding the playoffs

After Prestons return to the playoff zone at the weekend, manager Billy Davies was quick to play down all the speculation surrounding the playoffs, with so much of the season left to play. Davies is quoted as saying "We look to the next game" and with two crucial games upon us QPR and a very tricky Ipswich now is just too early to get carried away.

Despite Billy being ever the realist and playing it all down, im sure he feels like a lot of people who must be sitting up and taking notice of a side unbeaten in eight games now dating back to Mid-December, here is a side with alot of confidence and every chance of making a top six finish.

Davies went on to say:

"It is nice to be there but i can honestly say to you that i dont think that we should be concerning ourselves that much, two defeats and we can be right back into the middle of the league"

"I dont really think we should be looking at anything other than enjoying the day, enjoy the three points, look to the next game and once we get to April time we can sit back and then we can have a look and see what the situation is"

"But at the moment we just need to keep focused and work away quietly and we will see what happens"

To the media Billy seems very relaxed and realistic about the whole situation but i wonder just how confident he feels, in his first managerial role since his Motherwell days, lets just hope there is a successful road ahead for Billy and Preston.
