Terry Butcher has been linked with goalkeepers Neil Bennett and Kris Robertson in a bid to find cover for veteran Gordon Marshall.

Bennet, 22 has formerly been with English First Division sides Bradford and Rochdale has been invited for a trial period at Fir Park.


Highly rated stopper Kris Robertson has just turned down a new contract with St Mirren and is currently at Crewe Alexander on trial but Terry hopes the lure of top flight football could persuade the youngster to join Motherwell.


Meanwhile, former Motherwell and Hearts winger Kevin Twaddle has joined First Division side St Mirren on a two-year deal. The 31 year old who has been troubled with injuries in the past only made 9 appearances for the Jambo's last season and is delighted at the move to the Saints. Another happy man is St Mirren manager John Coughlin, he told Teletext " I am happy to have got him at last because this has been going on for a while. "





Lehmann
Freed Motherwell striker Dirk Lehmann has turned down a move to English side Brentford despite impressing in a trial for the ' Bees . Lehmann who scored 9 goals in 43 appearances for Motherwell is keen on a switch to Japanese side FC Yokohama.


Another player who was released from Fir Park last season was John Crawley, the youngster has impressed Ayr manager Cambell Money, he said " The lad has done well training with us and now I want to see him in games. "
