Motherwell have been relegated to First Division status by the Scottish Football League - hopefully just temporarily. The Scottish Football League included both Motherwell and Falkirk ( in same pot ) for todays draw for next seasons Bell's Challenge Cup.



Last week SPL clubs voted 7 - 5 against letting Falkirk into the SPL but ' Bairns chairman Cambell Christie has threatened the SPL with court action and has even asked the Office of fair trading to examine the Brockville club's case for promotion which will drag this situation on.



SFL secetary Peter Donald told the BBC " In the absence of any clarity, we have to deal with the situation as it currently stands and both clubs have been included for the purposes of administrative convenience.

" Our clubs need to know who they will be playing on the opening day of the season on 2 August. "





Terry Butcher Hoping for SPL football


The club who will be playing First Division football next season will face Brechin City away in the Bell's cup for their opening fixture of the new season.
