Holland unlikely as Ipswich raise the fee

City are unlikely to continue with their interest in Ipswich's Matt Holland after they raised the asking fee to £10 million. Cameroon international Marc-Vivien Foe remains the most likely midfield target.

City are unlikely to continue in their efforts to sign Ipswich and Ireland midfielder Matt Holland, after Ipswich slapped a £10 million price tag on him.

City were believed to have targeted Holland in the event that they failed to land Cameroon international Marc-Vivien Foe.

Holland was believed to have been available for a fee of £4 million after Ipswich were relegated, but his recent form for Ireland in the World Cup has enabled Ipswich to up the price tag.

City are unlikely to be in a position to fork out that amount of money after the recent £13 million fee they paid for Nicolas Anelka.

It would now appear that Foe is the only target remaining with Keegan today saying that he would only buy one more player and that a deal was close.
