City will be looking to go 2 points clear of Wolves this evening as they make up one of their two games in hand. This fixture should have originally been played the Saturday before Christmas but was called off an hour before kick off due to a frozen pitch. At the time allegations and counter allegations flew as to who had got the game called off, with Crewe claiming City were scared to play them on a frozen pitch ..... of course they were!!!!! The fixture now becomes City's 4th in 9 days and they will be looking to continue the current winning streak. Kevin Keegan looks set to name the same 11 that started the game at Bradford, meaning no place for Berkovic and Howey, who are both near to full fitness. More worryingly is the continued absence of Paulo Wanchope from the squad with a knee injury that is looking less like a minor ailment with each game that passes. Despite scoring on his debut, it looks as though Jon Macken will once more start from the bench, Keegan publically backing the Goat this week to come out of his lean spell. The corresponding fixture at Maine Road at the start of the season was a thouroughly (and a lot closer than the scoreline suggests) entertaining 5-2 win for City. City took a 2 goal lead with Crewe hitting back with 2 in first half injury time and going on to dominate until the 80th minute. The last 10 minutes belonged to City and the goals flowed as substitute Darren Huckerby ran Crewe ragged. Hopefully more of the same in terms of City goals tonight, but once more the three points alone will do. In my opinion the continued City form will see them through to a comfortable 3-0 win.
