City have tonight announced the signing "in principle" of Nicolas Anelka. The signing will be a club record fee and is a clear statement of intent that Manchester City aren't in the Premiership to make up the numbers.
Anelka deal doneCity have tonight confirmed that a deal has been completed “in principle” to bring Nicolas Anelka to Maine Road. City have agreed to pay PSG £10 million, plus Lucien Mettomo for Anelka.Anelka will undertake a medical over the weekend and sit down to iron out the fine points of his personal terms on Monday. It is believed he will receive a salary in the region of £35,000 a week. The transfer fee smashes the previous club record of £5 million, paid for Jon Macken and clearly demonstrates to the rest of the Premiership that City aren’t just there to make up the numbers. The Kevin Keegan factor should not be underestimated, he promised the best, and Anelka is one of the best. Roll on the Premiership. |
