Steven Gerrard believes this is the best Liverpool team he’s played since graduating from the Academy and thinks that under Rafa Benitez the good times are back at Anfield. Gerrard and his team mates crave success and would love to win the World Club Championship.

He said:

“These are exciting times for Liverpool and I would go as far as to say this is the best Liverpool team I have played in," enthused Gerrard.

"This is a team that is littered with exciting young players. We have a good mixture of local lads together with some excellent foreign players and we look forward to every game we play. We fear nobody and we are still improving."

The Reds midfield dynamo knows that with success comes more games but he certainly doesn't want any rest from a hectic schedule, in fact he wants more games.

"It's very exciting and not daunting the amount of games," Gerrard added. "We have a lot of games ahead but I want to play in as many games as possible because it means we are doing well.

"I'm still a young lad and the amount of games doesn't worry me at all, in fact I'm very excited and the more games the better."
