Sami pleased to reach the group stages

Sami Hypia believes justice has prevailed as the European Champions await to find out who they’ll be drawn against in the group stage of this season’s Champions League. Sami is happy that the Reds were allowed to defend their crown and have gotten through to the group stages but is far from happy that they had to play six games to get there.

He said:

"It has certainly been a long run for us to get into the Champions League but now we are in the group stages we are happy,"

"When UEFA put us into the first qualifying round no player was happy with that because it's strange to play a competitive and official game at the start of July.

"We have now played six qualifying games which isn't normal but we are happy to get the opportunity to defend our title. We are in the group stage now and we want to do well again.

"It will be very interesting to see who we get in the draw as there are some very good teams in it again. We can draw an English club so you never know who you might get!"
