Owen - Cheers or Jeers

By Mighty Reds
March 3 2008

On Saturday next an ex Red will visit Anfield with his present chosen team. He’ll be a bit apprehensive because his team aren’t doing well at the moment and could end up in a relegation dog fight. He also has to face the Reds fans that still see him as a traitor because he wasn’t prepared to give new manager Rafael Benitez a chance back in the summer of 2004.

Isn’t it time to give a  rest  to the jeering of Michael Owen?  Hasn’t he proved how wrong he was to leave Liverpool?

Look where he’s ended up.  Still only twenty seven and playing for a club who are the absolute anathema to Owens own career targets.  He left Liverpool to win bigger trophies and ended up at a club where they not only don’t win trophies, but continually make a laughing stock of themselves.

He is now working under his fourth manager at that club in just over two years, and this one is one of the very few people Owen used his autobiography to come out and say he disliked.

A manager who is also an ex Red who left a bitter taste in the mouths of Reds fans at the time.  He left for money though, which is worse in my book.  Luckily we replaced HIM with a player he wasn’t fit to clean the boots of.

Owen is without doubt one of the best goal scorers we’ve produced, and as such deserves our respect and cheers, or at least silence, not jeers.

Michael thought the grass was greener at Madrid and i for one can understand him wanting to play for one of the great club sides in world football.Just didnt like the smart aarssed lines he gave us the 6 months before he went.To cap it all was he had the opurtunity to come back and play the same game with Madrid but got greedy and bad advice. So next week i shall treat him as last time and ignore him.Ido feel sorry to a point but it was his decision but hey thanks for the memories he was the best striker in the world .

Probably won't realise he's on the pitch, like last time.

True Cap, although, he has something to prove to Cappello doesn't he? Would be just our luck to batter them, as we did at SJP last season, only to see them get a lucky win. They're a shiiite team I know but even shiiite teams have one or two good days.

Why don't smilies come out on 'front page' articles?
