The Big Dutchman has become a fans favourite at Prenton Park. His presence between the sticks has helped Rovers keep a lot since signing on a free transfer from Dutch outfit, FC Utrecht. The 33 year old has had many highlights in his career, but one that sticks out is a vital penalty save against Millwall in the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup in the 2003-04 season. John recently signed a 2 year extenstion to his contract to keep him at the club till July 2007. This year Achterberg faces stiff competition to retain the number one jersey, with new signing Steve Wilson determined to make a name for himself.
