The sun will rise again. The World Cup beckons, albeit I am not sure who in the current squad will be on the plane. We can all take a deep breath and spend the next few months getting excited by a takeover that will happen 1. By the start of the season of 2. By the January transfer window of 3. Before the final game. At some point we will appoint a new manager, and they will probably be given their marching orders around Valentine’s Day. This is the club that is Tranmere Rovers.
It was great to see a bumper crowd yesterday, but where were they all previously? There was someone sat near me who didn’t have a clue who was who. Kept saying things like ‘come on number 7’. Probably a red or a blue nose. Probably stayed at the end to applaud the players off too. What were we celebrating, a season of watching the worst football in living memory?
Of course I am pleased that we have retained our League status. There is a huge difference between being in the EFL compared to the National League. There is more media coverage, more visiting fans and better quality opposition. But our financial situation is if not precarious, certainly less than stable. It may be that at this level that’s true of all clubs. But I doubt that. There is also an argument that it’s about making the money work better for you. Yet we have made some odd signings that don’t add quality, they just leave you scratching your head wondering ‘what the hey!?’
Some players will not be here next season. Those out of contract are unlikely to be given new ones, other perhaps than Sam Findlay. The remainder, well, there’s a frustration. Sol Solomon showed promise, but rarely got a chance. Omari Patrick showed talent, but rarely applied it in the 2nd half of the season. The rest? I wish them well in their careers, despite my frustrations they are all better athletes than me, they made the grade as professional footballers. It didn’t work out here, but good luck to them.
Now? Well now it’s time to enjoy the next 14 weeks without Rovers. The League Cup starts on 7th August, and League Two kicks off a week later. The hope is that next season will be better. It surely can’t be any worse, can it? And remember, the take over is imminent.

Interesting to hear Pete Wild’s comments after the match. Clearly unimpressed with the set up but he also mentioned that the selection of a full time manager would depend on “ what the new owners want”. That , at least, suggests it’s going to happen.

Yeah , it was very evident he doesn't want the job, he intimated it a couple of weeks ago. Bad times when managers don't want your job. Not sure I took from that the same thing about new owners , but sure it will all become apparent.
If we choose to applaud the squad at the end of the season surely it’s up to us, it is surely an action that bothers you.
There are elements of the whole set up at Tranmere that deserve it including many of the playing staff .
If I sound a bit over reactive to your post it because I brought along a friend yesterday , he is not a usual visitor to football matches, he came along to give support to a team that needed support (and to try and support me no doubt!). He did not know a single players name but screamed SWA , Tranmere , and celebrated our goal and subsequent survival like a seasoned Prentonian.
I hope he never sees your sarcastic unbalanced remarks that are far far away from any attempt to encourage new support at TRFC. .
And , yes, we stood there clapping with many many others when the teams came out .

Good on him! This your only a supporter if you to "go to" every game and paint your bedroom blue and white and dream about Micky Mellon every night really annoys me, he's a supporter , he turned up and did his bit on the day, Kudos to him
The crowd size shows the possibilities available if we were playing meaningful matches at the right end of the table.
