At this time of the year thoughts are turning to the festive season, that time of the year when plastic becomes elastic. Debts accumulate, people buy each other stuff they neither really want or really need and we stuff our gills and contemplate January diets. 71 days until the sale of our club is complete too.

All that’s a bit depressing, in 232 days it will be the Spring Bank Holiday, the weekend of the play off finals at Wembley, I suppose that would be when most of us would say the football season is over. The end of the football season is likely to be the next date we’ll be told by which the club will be sold.

There’s lots of football between now and then, we might even win a game! But looking at those two dates has become important to most of us because there is a sense that the status quo is neither desirable nor sustainable. Comments across a number of social media platforms indicate that the fans are keen for change.

Individual comments are never an indication of very much, but the accumulation of comments is what shapes the atmosphere. Our plight has come to the attention of national media too. The end of days it may not be, but nor is it a cause for celebration. Quite what our players and Andy Crosby make of this I don’t know. We still need to support our team and compartmentalise our frustrations with the business. This isn’t a request it’s an essential.

This weekend I am off to Bristol to see Tranmere take on Bristol Rovers. I will be taking my eldest brother, and my Gt nephew to the game. It’s about a 140 miles return, but this represents a local match for them. Between us we have about 130 years of supporting Rovers. We’re looking forward to the chat and having a good laugh. Football, after all, is a form of communion. Being there fulfils and demonstrates our faith, not just in our team but in each other’s judgements. Both Rovers are on a run of poor form. It will either be an interesting game or a dull one. Being a Tranmere supporter, and having years of low expectations, I’ll settle for the latter. A dull, 0-1 victory to us will be worth the 7 hour return journey (minus the local travel).

My brother will be 80 on Monday. A Tranmere defeat will be nothing new, we have seen that many together over the years. I think most of the games we have seen at Bristol have been draws, but I could be wrong. I don’t know if Andy Crosby puts articles up on the dressing room wall to motivate his team. Hopefully he does and maybe he will stick this one up. Go on lads, make the journey for us all worthwhile and help a lifelong Tranmere supporter start his birthday celebrations 48 hours early, after 29,218 days.

it will be a case of 'shiver me timbers' if we can pull off an away win down there at the home of The Pirates....but i am fully confident that we can go down there and come home with 'the booty' of all 3 pts...I think we will have Bristol 'walking the plank''...and it will be 'fair winds' for the SWA on their way home after a 'swashbuckling' victory,. and for Bristol Rovers it's 'Davy Jones's Locker' for them...

In Jamaica the price of an apple pie is $3
In Antigua a cherry pie will cost you $3.50
and in Barbados a blueberry pie will set you back $5

These are The Pie rates of the Caribbean....

You forgot to mention the walk along the prom to get home, especially on the spring tide.
We did the pub crawl from the Seascombe ferry to the Egremont ferry pub quite a few times.

If they were Bristol fashion, both of those teams are doing a bit better than Tranmere are in their respective leagues up to now, in respect of their table positions, although Bristol City have lost their last 4 championship games, so emulating their current form wouldn't be wise (Sm100).

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
