No take over yet. A handful of new players and a new kit to spend your football budget on. All looking good? Possibly, possibly not.
We don’t quite have a full squad. We have a stronger defence but the midfield isn’t quite there. As for the forward line it’s the same as last year. Rumour has it that unless we can ship two high earners out we won’t be able to improve much and that we may be hampered with signings in other positions. There is, of course always the possibility of a loan signing or two. A new Rob Apter would be great, but we were lucky in that respect. Quite a few of our rivals have drafted in players from below the EFL. Grimsby have signed striker Kabia from Truro, and Staunton from Spennymoor Town. It will be interesting to see how well they do.
The uncertainty over our future ownership has doubtless hampered our activity in the transfer market. Andy Crosby has the ability to make a silk purse from a pig’s ear, but a bit more investment is the difference between looking over our shoulder all season and looking at promotion. The club can’t spend money it hasn’t got but needs to get better at speculating to accumulate points at the top end of the table.
Those with spare pennies can invest in our new kit. It looks good, but not significantly different enough from last year’s to persuade me to raid the piggy bank. Those with a bit more dosh to spend could look at sponsoring the Kop. As it stands there is still a possibility that Eastern Delight will dig into their pockets and bag themselves a deal. I suspect they will probably put their money into Club 1884, the new business deal that includes business networking, discounts on hospitality and the chance to buy match tickets. So far it has not been reported if it’s a roaring success. Time will tell.
In less than 6 weeks time the season kicks off. We won’t really know what the team’s immediate prospects are until the Division settles down. It would be great if the takeover has been completed in time for the January transfer window. We will need additions. At the same time it is also possible that the current takeover falls through. Given that the US consortium have been involved in discussions for almost a year any new purchasers are likely to take a fair while to get a new deal over the line.
As we head into the new season the only certainty is uncertainty. Not the best place to be in, but we’re still here and we can all still get behind the team.

We'll know within a month whether any decent strikers have been brought in but I suspect it will be another 32+yo or a youngster on loan, if any. I am sure Andy is trying hard to bring someone in..
and at least we will know if the takeover situation is going to drag on and on.

We may wind up with a similar forward line to last season, but the fact is that, under AC, we were on automatic promotion form and, despite the earlier goal famine, we were obviously scoring enough goals to be on automatic promotion form. It may be optimistic to suppose that this could be repeated and last throughout an entire season, but I don't see any reason to be worried at this stage as all the signings so far seem to be pretty decent.

I worry that when we are in 15th/16th the shouts of Crosby out will start and we end up drifting towards a relegation battle again.
Don't worry about the shouts, you won't be able to hear them on iFollow week in-week out.

What’s the use of worrying, it never was worth while, so pack up the new kit in your bag and smile, smile , smile

To be honest though, the way the squad is developing things are looking interesting. I think a very successful season just might come to fruition.

Crosby needs a few more signings who won't stand stills too much, are prepared to nash their teeth sometimes and might be young
