Following this afternoon's 1-0 home win over Southport, we are asking you to vote for you Tranmere Man of the Match from the game as part of our post-match poll series.
As last week against Torquay, Rovers dominated the game and were worthy winners despite having to settle for a one goal margin of victory when it could in all honesty have been many more. The win moved Rovers into fourth place in the National League table and they are now just two points behing third placed Grimsby.
Jeff Hughes had a great chance to give Rovers the lead in each half but was denied on both occasions whilst Lois Maynard broke through early on but was denied by Crocombe in the visitors goal.
In the end the first and only goal of the game came from the penalty spot after a push on Gary Taylor-Fletcher in the 63rd minute as James Norwood, after much time-wasting from the Crocombe, dispatched the penalty with ease.
Rovers were unable to add a second goal goal but saw out the game relatively comfortably to earn a sixth win in seven games and their fourth win in a row since the home defeat to Macclesfield at the start of the year.

He won so much in the air in the middle allowing Harris and Jennings to sweep away with the ball. A great game from him.
Mention also for Vaughan who again did well!

Vaughan followed by Jenno. Maynard, no idea why he got it. He can head the ball and thats about it.

Maynard frustrates me he shows glimpses of class and strong tackles. Then he goes in limp on other occasions and loses the ball to easily.
The size of the lad he should be our yaya, Gerard or Viera.

Agree Jenno performed well and Liam R does give us more going forward.

For me the upturn in performances by Jenno has been a huge factor in what we are seeing at the moment results wise.
Let's not forget we were playing well in most games this season and had been desperately unlucky and undeserving in many to not get a point or three points - perhaps an improvement from Jennings has helped us push over the line a few times?!

At the risk of going over old ground it's because he's been freed from the holding role he was playing (whether it was down to him or a plan by Brabin I don't know). He's played like that since Alty at home, and believe he did away at Macc too. Its definitely a big factor in our improvement. Personally I think he's playing very well at the moment and may be our best midfielder.
