Rovers Add Two More as Squad Re-Build Continues

Tranmere Manager Gary Brabin adds another defender and a midfielder to his newly assembled Rovers squad.......
Tranmere have this afternoon confirmed the double signing of defender Liam Hogan and midfielder Lois Maynard as Manager Gary Brabin continues to build his Rovers squad ahead of the start of the 2015/16 National League campaign which of course begins in August.
Maynard is described as a 'goalscoring midfielder' and indeed notched 12 goals in 39 appearances from midfield for F.C Halifax Town last season in the Conference Division.
The 26 year-old had reportedly attracted interest from a number of Football League Clubs following his two year spell in Yorkshire with the Shaymen but has penned a two year deal at Prenton Park to sign up to the task of trying to get Tranmere back into the Football League at the first time of asking.

Maynard was also named as Halifax's Player of the Season in 2014/15 and in 83 appearances in total for Halifax over two seasons, Lois scored a total of 19 goals and will no doubt be a valuable addition to the Rovers midfield ahead of the new season.
The second new addition to the Rovers squad for next season who also signed up today is another 26 year-old in the shape of former Fleetwood Town defender Liam Hogan who has signed a one year contract.
In a link with fellow new signing Lois Maynard, Hogan began his senior career with FC Halifax Town where he also spent two seasons but only made one appearance for the Shaymen before moving to Fleetwood Town in May 2013.

In two seasons since making the move to Lancashire, Liam has made 31 appearances, 22 for Fleetwood in the Football League and 9 during a two month loan spell at Macclesfield Town in the Conference.
Speaking of the signings to the Tranmere Rovers Official Website, Manager Gary Brabin said....
“I am really pleased to be able to bring these two players to the club. Liam is a versatile defender who has good experience of this division and those above. Lois is a high-energy attacking midfielder who can score goals from midfield and also offers us a physical presence. They are both winners and leaders and I’m delighted that they have decided to join the Club.”
Total Tranmere would like to welcome both Liam and Lois to the Club and we look forward to seeing them in action in 2015/16. We will also bring further reaction to these signings as it becomes available so stay tuned!

Maynard was clearly popular and can clearly play a bit having won the Player of the Season and Player's Player of the Year awards at Halifax. Plus, Gary Brabin was a hard working and competitive player, if he thinks these new signings are 'winners' and 'leaders' then I feel confident that we have two players who will fight for the cause when needed!
Good solid players, experienced and know what is needed. All seems good and what a difference to last few years.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

I presume you mean no players who will leave within 2 years for reasonable fees, as opposed to having players that you can't build a team around.

I mean we've got players who are in their prime now. They are as good as they are going to be. They aren't on a slow decline looking to eke out a career for a few more years. And who knows when that decline really kicks in? They aren't young and on the rise who we might be able to get a decent profit out of in the future. Who knows when they are really ready to take us forward, or if they will ever he able to? These signings want to win now, they are ready, experienced enough and still physically capable of mixing it with anyone. I think it's a huge positive. The players we sell on are the ones we develop through our youth system, who will be ready in a year or two. The players who are ready to get us back into the league are these guys.

Massive step forward from recent years, these players are being recruited for their ability to produce good performances and get results at this level, by a Manager who knows them and what they have and can still do!
No more rejects or journeymen for us, and long may it continue.
