Striker Kayode Odejayi wins the Total Tranmere Man of the Match Award for last Saturday's 4-1 home defeat against Burton Albion......
After a rare, full week of voting due to lack of a midweek match for Tranmere this week, it can now be confirmed that you, the fans and readers of this site, voted striker Kayode Odejayi as your Tranmere Rovers Man of the Match for last Saturday's 4-1 home defeat to League leaders Burton Albion at Prenton Park.
Odejayi of course scored what will arguably be the goal of the season come May with a superb control and volley into the net at the Cowshed end of the ground to half the visitors lead before half time. But aside from that wonder goal, Odejayi put in an impressive display that has certainly done enough for him to easily take the award for the game.
As you can see from the poll below which had a total of thirty votes cast, Odejayi polled 43% of the votes (13 votes) to take the award but perhaps the biggest surprise of the poll was that second place, fairly comfortably went to second year scholar Ben Jago despite him only being on the field for the final thirteen minutes in his senior debut.
Jago polled 23% of the vote (7 votes) to seal second place whilst the only starting players not to receive any votes at all were Michael Ihiekwe, Marc Laird, Jordan Hugill and Max Power who of course missed a penalty for Rovers at a crucial time in the game that would have made the score 2-2 at that point.
Stay tuned on Saturday evening for your chance to vote for your Tranmere Man of the Match for the vital home game against promtoion chasin AFC Wimbledon which of course takes place at 3.00pm on Saturday with the results of that poll to be announced on Thursday evening of next week prior to Rovers' Good Friday away trip to Stevenage.
