Tranmere Rovers v Wolverhampton Wanderers Match Discussion
By Deadly Submarine
December 31 2013
If you can't make Tranmere's game at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on New Years Day, why not join in the banter right here with other Rovers fans who are unable to attend...
Following football even at League One level is pretty expensive these days and no matter how much you love the Rovers, it will sometimes be difficult to make the games in person whether it be the lengthy away trips, or for exiles living elsewhere in the UK or abroad, the home games too.
As a result, for those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, we at Total Tranmere will be providing this match discussion thread for you to discuss developments with the game.
Tranmere of course, host Wolverhampton Wanderers on New Years Day, so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on? You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been to watch the game live.
What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.
Perhaps Bigmart can explain why Cassidy will be the number1 boo boy tomorrow? He always played his guts out for us and should get a good reception from the knowledgable and fair minded SWA.
Cassidy will get a very warm welcome he was a fans favourite and I for one would love to have him back playing for us...He struck up a great partnership with JLAA ...Cassidy & Lowe ...WOW ....Ronnie how good would that be....
Most likly the same as the majority of other players we get, injured after the first few kicks of the ball!!! Being a bit more serious though, just because Cassidy played well for half a season does not mean the same would happen again. Our priority is to shore up our rapidly deminashing defence. 1-3.
This is one of those games, where we play really well and overcome the bookies odds.
However unless we do get some quality defenders in on loan, then I believe we will be on the recieving end of a thrashing, they will be too good for us all the park.
not too sure what to think about that one. On one hand it was a point earned against a big club. But felt we could of done more to try to win it as the wolves defence wasnt exactly upo to much. Cant comment on Wallace until ive seen a replay , but thats a 3 match ban!.
Pennington tucked in made several great clearances all on debut against the best winger in the league (sako) did fantastic for me as did Liam at LB.
New CB did well - for his size quite fairy like in the air though...Ash Taylor outstanding.
Jennings the big difference, protected the back 4 - got it down and playing out through the back, Key player who we have to keep.
Lowe - amazing work rate again - Robbo also worked hard for me and typical robbo ball through to lowe for the sending off. Still wish we'd play either him or koumas in the role behind the striker.
Peterson agree better on left, lacked little end product but again with his pace/tricks always feel he will do something. I'd like to see us let him stay high up the pitch and use jennings/other cm to cover across for him.
Wallace tackle stupid - did a less bad one a couple of games ago where I remember saying he'll have to be careful going in studs up....moment went for the ball called red card.
Great to see us trying to play more from the back and using shorter sharper passes! Maybe RM, JMc have read some of the views on here!!!
Very positive performance but will we keep it up against lesser sides?
Also believe a big factor today was being the underdogs a lack of fear and no lose situation - as a result played with more freedom and confidence = better football.
Gritty performance and hard earned point, but for God's sake Ronnie tell your players to close the opposition down when they have the ball. the players withdraw to a deep zone defence that gives the opposition so much space and invites them to shoot. Fonners made a couple of good saves and what a chip from Ash to put Lowe in.
cadburygorilla Predicted 1-1! ;-)

Agreed with virtually all of that.Robbo was better today than at Sheffield but that wasn't difficult because he was the worst player on the pitch there. I would start him on the bench next game as I think that Peterson is much better on the left than on the right.
The worry about that sort of tackle from Wallace is not just the red card situation but more likely the chances of injuring himself badly again as a result.

All in all a good point to be fair, because many were predicting a poential massacre and against a tam like that, it's understandable people would not feel too bouyant about the prospect of playing a big budget form team.
A blow though losing Wallace, but only conceding 1 goal was pleasing, because I think that would be a clean sheet performance against a team with a lower budget first 11 and Wolves probably have the most expensive first team of any club in league 1.
Good that the two new guys came in and quickly adapted, but I wonder if the finances will at some point allow Jennings to be signed permanently, because his agent was only going to permit the non-contract basic until January and despite him originally wanting £2,000 a week, I think Tranmere would struggle badly to get someone of his ability for only £2,000 a week.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
YEAH teach him a lesson. It was wrong for so many reasons! , 1.Captain, 2.Dangerous, 3.We need him badly, hes been out for so long for a another hard challange causing the injury we've just waited nearly a season fo him to recover, 4.We were 1-0 up against 10 men and should of won it, 5. We are gonna suffer badly now with results more than likely, but would rather try and and teach him a lesson for a bit.

It was a terrible tackle-he'll serve a 3 match ban and then be back near the end of the month. End of.
An entertaining game with plenty of incident, I would have been happy with a point before the game but left a bit disappointed we didn't win in the end.
Wallace deservedly got a red card it was a stupid challenge and we will miss him for the next 3 games. I though Ash was easily are best player, the run and pass for the goal was fantastic. Pennington struggled early against Sakho but improved and did well in the 2nd half.
Not that impressed really with Wolves thought they were ok but nothing more or the amount of fans they brought.
