Shrewsbury Town v Tranmere Rovers Match Discusson

By Deadly Submarine
December 24 2013

If you can't make Tranmere's game away at Shrewsbury Town on Boxing Day, why not join in the banter right here with other Rovers fans who are unable to attend...

Following football even at League One level is pretty expensive these days and no matter how much you love the Rovers, it will sometimes be difficult to make the games in person whether it be the lengthy away trips, or for exiles living elsewhere in the UK or abroad, the home games too.

As a result, for those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, we at Total Tranmere will be providing this match discussion thread for you to discuss developments with the game.

Stadium - Shrewsbury Town

Tranmere travel to Greenhous Meadow on Boxing Day

Tranmere of course, travel to Shrewsbury Town on Boxing Day, so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on?  You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been to watch the game live.

What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.

be interesting to see the side that gets picked, would love to see cole start, and Robbo on for second half, think that this could be the start of pulling things together, we'll take 3 points on the day

Once again @gony, I admire your blind faith in us winning at Shrewsbury.
However, With our defence in tatters, I am going for a loss. 2-0 to them.

I hope we can snatch a result, but am fearing the worst.

Shresbury are a side that many could take points from but at this time is difficult to find any logical reason wht Rovers should be in that number

Only one shot on target in the first 43 minutes to the Shrews seven then up pops Robbo with our second shot 0-1 to us.

Just do not fall asleep in second half keep it tight and we might pinch this but long second half to go.

Well done to the lads. Let's hope that we can win the next one as well. That will be a good Christmas present to me.

A much needed win today, we needed to get back to being difficult to score against and it worked today happy days indeed. Hopefully we will continue to play 4-5-1 as for me this is our best system at the moment.

A result on sunday and thing will be looking a lot better.

Great result and finally a Robbo contribution this season counts for something, because every time he scores or assists, I think he's worth a point of 3 on his own.

Also 4 points clear of the drop zone which is good, so not such a squeaky bum scenario now and I think since Bradford it's 18 points now out of the last 12 games in the league and 66.66% of those matches unbeaten, so that's encouraging.

Losing two wasn't great, but then again Gillingham had lost 4 going into the last games and Peterborough lost 5 going into their 1-0 with Wolves, just before the cup win.

Even Bournemouth lost 4 about 10 monthd ago, so considering Tranmere aren't loaded and haven't got lavishly paid players, two consecutive defeats could have become a John Barnes 6 in a row streak, but the lads have held firm for a another clean sheet and Robbo's got a moment to savour and he deserves it, because when he plays he is often a big and quality player and I still think if he could last 90%+ of a season without injury, he might be elsewhere earning bigger money.

4 clean sheets in the league now and hopefully many more and the chance to press on.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

We were poor first half, and lucky enough to get the winner just before half time. Why does Ronnie insist on playing long balls all the time with a team of dwarfs on the pitch and the absolute quality we have in midfield. With the system we used we only started playing to feet in the second half and we clearly were the better team, should and could have two more goals on top of the belter from Robbo. Great pass from Koumas and knock down from Lowe.

The only drawback for me was that they were rubbish, probably the worst I have seen this season.

The only change I'd make for Utd is Jenno to start for Atkinson.
Ridehalgh my mom. With Jason a close second.

Liam R at CB motm and looked to me the best CB we have had this season! would consider keeping him there and finding a new LB in Jan.

Jennings looked decent in holding role when came on.

Looked lot more solid with formation but would like to see us use it more attacking i.e press higher, more men breaking forward.

Football at times was dire aimless long balls - partly caused by players not showing for the ball and I imagine instructions to go more direct.

Thought atkinson did well (won't be a popular comment on here) but used the ball better than others and made some good runs forward although missed a sitter from a corner.

Much needed win against a side I expect will struggle to stay up.
