Koumas Returns to Prenton Park

Former youth product and midfielder Koumas returns to football and to Tranmere after two years out of the game to boost Rovers' squad ahead of the League One campaign which starts on Saturday.....
Tranmere Rovers have today confirmed the news that many fans have been expecting for at least a week or more with the news that Jason Koumas has today rejoined the Club on a one year contract subject to clearance by the Football League and the Football Association.
The former Welsh international has been training with the squad since early July and made his first re-appearance in a Rovers shirt in the pre-season friendly at Wrexham last Saturday.

Having begun his career at Tranmere in 1998 and scored 32 times in 150 appearances for the Club, his performances earned him a Club record £2.5 million transfer to Premier League side West Bromwich Albion in 2002. At the Hawthorns he made more than 100 appearances for the Baggies before joining Wigan Athletic for £5.3 million in 2007.
The 33-year old has scored ten goals in 34 international appearances for Wales but after leaving Wigan via a second loan spell at Cardiff City, Koumas moed away from football for two years before re-joining Rovers this summer to train with the Club prior to today's announcement.
Speaking of the signing of Koumas, Manager Ronnie Moore said....
"I’m delighted Jason has agreed to join us. He’s probably one of the most talented players the Club has ever had and you only have to look at the money other clubs have paid for him to see that."
“He fell out of love with the game and hasn’t played for two years but he came in at the start of July and met us and said he wanted to start playing again. His attitude has been first class since he has been back and he certainly hasn’t lost any of his ability."
“He has trained really well over the last month and has been getting fitter and fitter. When he’s fully fit I believe in Jason we will have one of the best players in League One.”

Definitely a Steven Gerrard type player, who could potentially make a few key moments happen, when you're looking for an answer or two in the last 10-20 minutes.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
I was an enormous admirer of Koumas and he did right by the club. I really hope that things do work out but itis far for certain

I amstrugglingtothink of a Tranmere 'returning' player who struggled? Andy Robinson has done well. Ian Moore did ok. So are there four or more examples that would demonstrate 'often' from a Tranmere perspective? Looking at the Koumas situation in isolation, he was always talented but incredibly lazy. I don't expect him to be any different but if he scores at the rate he was for Wales, I will be happy.
