Stevenage (H) Live Updates and Match Discussion

By Deadly Submarine
March 23 2013

If you can't make Tranmere's game at home to Stevenage in NPower League One on Sunday afternoon, why not follow our live match updates right here and join in the banter right and with other Rovers fans who are unable to attend and whilst you watch the game live on TV....

Following football even at League One level is pretty expensive these days and no matter how much you love the Rovers, it will sometimes be difficult to make the games in person whether it be the lengthy away trips, or for exiles living elsewhere in the UK or abroad, the home games too.

As a result, for those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, we at Total Tranmere will not only be providing this match discussion thread for you to discuss developments with the game, but in a brand new feature we will also be providing a live updates service from the game which will include team line-ups, score updates and also pictures and snippets live from the game.

Stadium - Tranmere Rovers (Day)

Tranmere of course, host Stevenage in NPower League One on Sunday afternoon in front of the Sky TV cameras, so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on? You could use our live updates service to keep tabs on the action at the game if you can't watch the TV whilst also discussing all the talking points right here on our discussion thread.

What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use. To follow our live match updates, click on the link below and select the link for the Stevenage game from the list.

Based on what? 10 goals so far this season?

By using the Argenson/ Strickman extrapolated performance indication and configuration consensus, as Stevenage beat Sheff U 4-0 last week we should win 12-3 on Friday. Wouldn't that be great. (Sm128)

A wins a win and much needed but nothing to get carried away about.

Stevenage both at the back and in front of goal looked the worst side to visit Prenton Park this season and even when they had a lot of possession second half we were never really in danger.

Great to get the win and we can push on.

To be fair to all those at the back from both sides, the conditions were a nightmare for defenders. A massive 3 points[good performances from all apart from Black].I think Colchester were by some way the worst team to visit PP this season.

A good and deserved win 3 welcome points. We created a host of chances and really should have scored a lot more goals today.

But we are still in there battling away with 6 games to go and hopefully we can have a proftiable easter.

Hoots, Black set up the second Bakayogo goal, so perhaps intimating he wasn't that good was a tad rough. I'm not saying he was fabulous, but he made an important contribution and Tranmere needed it today.

Great result by the team and given Sheffield United's last game was a right royal snotting, Tranmere must pounce on that on Friday.

I can see this potentially happening on Friday.

Brentford v Notts County, win for Notts hopefully

Colchester v Bournemouth, Bournemouth slip-up

Coventry v Doncaster, draw

Swindon v Oldham, win for Swindon

Tranmere v Sheff Utd, slim win for Tranmere

Yeovil v Walsall, Draw

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

I think my comment on Black is very mild in the circumstances.A ''tad rough''? You must be joking.Have a read on the other Tranmere board-they are somewhat more vociferous there.

It was always going to be a tricky game for Black today, up against the pace and strength of Atkins. Apart from that incident where Black tried to run the ball into touch, I don't think any of our other fullbacks would of faired much better. I think the state of the pitch suited Atkins as he always seemed more rugby league than football league to me.

The worrying player was OFW.Not a lot to do except a couple
of dodgy kick outs and a poor attempt to stop their goal.
Hope it's just that he doesn't like being on T.V.

Good and honest comments here lads.

Black was ropey - couple of times he got stern words from Ash and Fonners second half - he looked to be daydreaming.

Fonners seems to have lost some confidence (seemed to time from his first trip with Wales?)

Thought (first half particularly) Sidebe held the ball up well and the two big dawks at the back for Stevenage couldn't handle either him or the pace of Zoom and BB.

Need to step up tightness of passing for Friday.... but Sheff U aren't that special so give no respect - get at 'em.

Are you Dazbowski in disguise? I'm sure you're not but this guy on the other site seems to be waging a campaign against OFW-non stop out of order criticism. Needless to say he wasn't there yesterday-if he was,he would have seen the state of the pitch[not quite so clear on TV] which caused the ball to bobble and stop so much at times. Back passes to the keeper[except when absolutely necessary]should have been banned yesterday-some of the ones we made were totally unnecessary and just put the keeper into trouble against an onrushing forward.

As for their goal,it was a very good free kick-granted it didn't go into the top corner but the only thing that OFW could have improved was his positioning which was slightly too far towards the other side of the goal. But it wasn't IMO his fault.

Hoots,I only comment on this site and it is the first time
I have criticised OFW although I have felt recently that
he has been less than confident at times (even allowing for
the state of the pitch).
Nothing would give me more pleasure than to see a clean sheet on Friday which will give OFW and the defence a great
lift for the remaining matches.

I agree that there were some good performances. For once we created a lot of chances, even in the second half. It was noticeable, however that non of the goals came from forwards although AA and sidibee had opportunities.

I have to agree with the comments about Black. I felt that most of the danger came from his flank and he seemed to struggle both in terms of positional sense and sometimes speed. I accept the comments about the pitch and it did make defending difficult.I was just not convinced that the pitch accounts for his difficulties.

My other concern is Fon Williams.Although taken from the other side of the pitch the free kick was not dissimilar to the goal conceded at Yeovil. It should have been saved and it seems to me that he has an issue with the position of the wall and his own initial position.Ome would think that this is something a good goalkeeping coach could sort out .
For me the most positive features of the match were the restoration of the Taylor Gibson partnership, the fact that AA looked fitter and the use of Bell Baggie to give us width. If Wallace makes a fully fit return then he and Power would give us some real bite in midfield next season
