The latest edition of the Tranmere Rovers Fanzine 'Give Us an R' is now on sale and is once again well worth a read for any Rovers fan interested in the views of other Rovers fans as well as an often light-hearted view of things......

With the season now well underway with a fast flurry of games on both Saturdays and Tuesday’s, a reminder that the first edition of the season of the excellent Rovers Fanzine ‘Give Us an R’ (Issue 76), which went on sale at the first home game of the season against Leyton Orient is still available to purchase.  As ever it is well worth a read for any keen Rovers fan who likes to read differing views on the current fortunes of Rovers.

The front cover of the latest issue displays a new layout and design for the season ahead and features a full colour photo of new second choice goalkeeper Jason Mooney in action in the pre-season friendly away at Marine.  The inside of the front cover features a montage of Rovers new signings, Mooney, Wallace, Harrison and Palmer.

After the usual editorial piece from ‘The Doctor’ which looks ahead to the League One season as well as the new Rovers’ kits amongst other things, the first of four of the regular ‘Away Days’ articles covers the 2-0 away defeat at Bury in late March whilst other away games covered in this issue are those that ended last season at MK Dons, Walsall and Colchester United.

Continuing the series featured throughout last season, there is another interesting feature from Tony Coombes about old away grounds and away sections that have been consigned to history with this issue looking at Stoke City’s Victoria Ground prior to their move to the Britannia Stadium. There is also the usual Anorak Quiz asking you to identify five football grounds from the pictures shown along with the answers from the last edition.

Regular columnists Deadly Submarine, ‘The Jones Journal’ and the ‘Ridgway Report’ are in evidence once more in this issue with The Jones Journal giving an in depth look at Rovers matches at the end of last season that hadn’t already been covered in previous .  The Ridgway Report taking a look back at five of Rovers’ top keepers from the turn of the Millennium as well as a couple of not so successful ones.

Total Tranmere's Deadly Submarine also looks at the summer ins and outs, the pre-season campaign and the latest on the Ingleborough situation whilst once again updating supporters on the fortunes of fans football team Total Tranmere FC.

The regular 'V for Vendetta' feature this time looks at the new source of hate for Rovers fans in the shape of Preston North End whilst there is also a four page feature looking back at the figures for both Rovers away support last season and the visiting support at Prenton Park which makes interesting reading.

Ryan Ferguson’s small piece on the commercialisation of pre-season games, particularly in the Premier League is an interesting read but by far my favourite article in this issue is Liam Scarth’s feature on his visit to Germany earlier in the year to catch a couple of games over there including the legendary St Pauli.  This issue sees the first of two parts from Liam and I look forward to the second part next time around.

On the inside back cover or this season, the ‘Yesterday's Heroes' feature is replaced by ‘Yesterdays Awaydays and this issue sees pictures of a game from the 1980’s at Darlington’s old Feethams ground.

Priced at just £2.00, Give Us an R is is well worth a read and can be purchased at all Rovers games. Dave can be found selling the mag outside the visitor's turnstiles at all away games and for home games is usually standing on the patch of wasteground alongside the entrance to the Main Club Car Park (under the sign advertising the next three home matches at Prenton Park) so if you have never purchase it before why not give it a try?

Dave will be selling the latest issue at the upcoming home game against Colchester United as well at the upcoming away games at Aston Villa, Port Vale and Crewe. The fanzine will most likely remain on sale for a number of games after that as well.
