Les Parry recruits striker on loan

Tranmere Rovers have today completed the signing of highly rated Stoke City youngster Ryan Brunt on a one month loan deal.

The 18-year old started his career with Bristol City, but showed huge promise with the club as a youth player and signed for the Potters in 2010.

A cruciate knee ligament injury halted his progress with the Premier League club, keeping Brunt on the sidelines for nearly a year, but he returned to action this season and has spent time out on loan at Nantwich Town, where he played in the F.A. Cup defeat to MK Dons, and at Luton, where he made five appearances without scoring.

Brunt has also been a regular goal scorer for the reserves, netting a hatrick for both Stoke City's second string and for Luton's reserve side this season.

He joins on a one-month youth loan deal, meaning Rovers have the chance to extend the contract to the end of the season, should he impress.

Tranmere boss Les Parry describes the player as "a decent size and quick" and believes that Brunt can add an extra option to the Rovers attack.

The Tranmere manager also insisted that he was aware that the transfer window closes next week and remains focussed on bringing in a more established striker by the time the window slams shut.

I am glad to see Les say we are still looking for someone with more experience. Big ask for a young lad to come in and start scoring. I thought Stockton looked good when he came on and also could be able to make the step up as well, but hope this lad is decent.

The only two experienced and available players I am aware of right now is Marcus Bent on a free and Malcolm Christie has not thrown his hat out of the ring I don't think, but I doubt Les would want to consider him.

Most other potential experienced loans would cost too much, so unless the top 4 in this league will palm off a 150+ game striker for 30%-40%, I don't know quite how he will get one, but I will be happy if he does.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

We have asked about 2 strikers in the championship who are experienced but the amount we want to pay of their wages is only small so both unlikely to happen.
