The latest edition of the Tranmere Fanzine 'Give Us An R' is now available to purchase before the upcoming Tranmere home and away games over the Christmas and New Year period and is once again an excellent read....

With the football season now having reached the festive period, there is currently a fourth edition of the season of the excellent Rovers Fanzine ‘Give Us an R’ available to purchase and as ever it is well worth a read for any keen Rovers fan who likes to read differing views on the current fortunes of Rovers.

The front cover of the latest issue, which first went on sale at the home game against MK Dons last Saturday, features a picture of current star man and loan signing from Everton, Jose Baxter taken during a recent Rovers home game. The inside of the front cover features images of Rovers recent away trips to both Charlton and Scunthorpe alongside post-match quotes from after each game from Les Parry.

After the usual editorial piece from ‘The Doctor’ which gives an analysis of Tranmere’s mixed fortunes since the last edition of GUAR went to press, the first of four regular ‘Away Days’ articles covers the visit to Charlton Athletic in League One which Rovers drew 1-1 whilst other away games covered in this issue are those at Hartlepool Utd, Scunthorpe Utd and Exeter City.

Continuing the series featured in all three of this season's three previous issues, there is another interesting feature from Tony Coombes about old away grounds and away sections that have been consigned to history with this issue looking at Bristol Rovers’ Twerton Park days and Northampton Town’s old County Ground.  There is also the usual Anorak Quiz asking you to identify five football grounds from the pictures shown along with the answers from the last edition.

Regular columnists Deadly Submarine, ‘The Jones Journal’ and the ‘Ridgway Report’ are in evidence once more in this issue whilst there is yet another 'V for Vendetta' feature which this issue looks at Bolton’s impending relegation from the Premier League and their chairman’s recent views on ‘no relegation from the division’.

The ‘In Black and White’ feature in this edition looks at a recent mention for Rovers in ‘Private Eye’ magazine in relation to the on-going Ingleborough development dispute with some of the local residents and war historians.  The regular Toys 'r' Us feature which looks at a toy from a certain point in history coupled with how Rovers were doing at that particular time this week looks at the £6million dollar action man figure that went on sale in 1975.   

There is an interesting letter on the letter’s page about Tranmere’s good start to the season, the writing of which seems to have jinxed the team since and there is also a feature on Exeter City’s ground redevelopment plans following our recent visit there.

Other features in this edition include, vandalism at Charlton’s ground during the London riots, the passing away recently of Gary Speed and Socrates, Hartlepool’s ludicrious away fan admission prices and a review of a book called ‘Got, Not Got’ which looks at collectors items from the past with mention of Rovers also included in its pages.

There is also a light-hearted look at the Ingleborough situation and the usual small snippets of jokes and ‘Separated at Birth’ lookalike section.

On the inside back cover, the ‘Yesterday's Heroes' features a full colour photo of Paul Cook to round off another interesting issue of ‘Give Us an R’.  Also look out for a small report on the fortunes of Total Tranmere FC at the end of the ‘Deadly Submarine’ section.

Priced at just £2.00, Give Us an R is is well worth a read and can be purchased at all Rovers games. Dave can be found selling the mag outside the visitor's turnstiles at all away games and for home games is usually standing on the patch of wasteground alongside the entrance to the Main Club Car Park (under the sign advertising the next three home matches at Prenton Park) so if you have never purchase it before why not give it a try?

Dave will be selling the latest issue at the upcoming away games at Stevenage and Sheffield Wednesday as well at the home games over the Christmas period against Rochdale (Boxing day) and Bury (30^th December.  The fanzine will most likely remain on sale for a few games after New Year as well.
