The Totally Tranmere podcast brings you another special interview, this time with former Rovers defender Clint Hlil

In a the latest edition of the Totally Tranmere podcast, regular hosts Paul Harper and Matthew Jones interviewed former Tranmere defender Clint Hill, a player who was part of John Aldridge's 1999/2000 side which reached the Worthington Cup Final.

In the interview, which is now available to download for free, Hill discusses at length his feelings after being sent off against Leicester at Wembley on that day, as well as talking about being sent off against Sunderland but also being substituted as he walked off the pitch.

That isn't all that's in store however, as the former Rovers number 6 talks to the podcast for an hour, with a great many aspects of his Tranmere career mentioned.

First, well done for getting the interview. I enjoyed listening to Clint speak so enthusiastically about the club. Please don't take this to heart, but could you not be a little more creative or inventive with your questions? It invariably feels like you're missing an opportunity to provide real insight into the players and the football club. Why not, for example, ask how things changed under Dave Watson and why a team that contained so many talented players stuttered so much in the third tier? I for one feel that questions with a little more depth and nuance would be infinitely more interesting than asking two or three variations on "Who was the best player you played against?"

For example, some really interesting stuff came up around the expiry of his contract, but that only came about because Clint offered the information himself.

As I say, this is intended as constructive criticism. I appreciate your dedication and admire your efforts in putting these interviews together. (That said, the sound quality, typing sounds, iChat alerts were pretty distracting!)

at last a bit of truth,clint loves trfc and would come back,unfortunately at the time we didnt have the finances to keep him.his hearts still with us.who else wouldnt move for more wages,when no contact had been made of rovers.maybe one day return in my eyes very welcome.any other thoughts?

Top bloke! Premier league player and still giving an hour of his time to talk Tranmere! , on the comments about why Aldo left it was all down to the Chairman and having no financial backing from him to do what he wanted to do with the club. Its a shame, PJ has done a lot for the club but must of woke up one day and thought "not any more thanks" . Im thinking this takeover bid could be the best thing to happen to Tranmere for a while, my £300 could be well spent. Fan ownership with the progression of the club at heart. And one day we could attract top players back to the club , as clint said there influence made him the player he is today

Absolute legend, love Clint and great to see he still genuinely loves us. Doing great at QPR now happy to see. Dream of the likes of Clint coming back. On the off chance we did go up he is just the type of player we could entice back.

Clint was a great player and maybe one day he might come back, the same as players like Hume, Gareth Roberts, Steve Jennings and Joe Murphy might come back some day.

It's a pity Hinds never worked out earlier this season, as he trialled for Crewe but was unssuccessful.

Hopefully there isn't a podcast with Shaun Thornton.

So tell us then Shaun, what would you say was your proudest achievement regarding Tranmere? Training with Sunderland behind Dave Watson's back, actually signing for Sunderland, or trying to beg your way back into the Tranmere fold, when Leyton Orient canned you?

I'd have to say in all honesty it's none of those; the best moment of my career regarding Tranmere, was when a fan dissed me in a chippy, for sounding off like a jumped up titwank.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

great to hear clint talk about his love for the rovers. he was my childhood hero. when he went he became a judus in my eyes. crying after his last game. then going to OLDHAM. and the way he celebrated that goal. but know i know the tears where real and he was getting pushed out of the club to save wages. great to hear his side of things. and great to remember a great player. CLINT HILL WE ONLY NEED 10 MEN.
