After Tranmere's disappointing defeat away at Preston North End on Saturday afternoon, the Rovers players who spoke to the media were disappointed with the result but praised the Superwhite Army numbering around 1,500 who made the trip to the game.......

After Tranmere were robbed of at least a draw away at Preston on Saturday afternoon in League One, two of the Rovers players spoke to the press and media to express disappointment with the result but also to praise the Superwhite Army for their fantastic support on the day.

New loan signing from Everton, Jose Baxter scored on his debut but was felt he and his teammates deserved much more from the game and told Tranmere Player......

"It was gutting to not get a result out of it after the great performance the lads put in. I thought we dominated for most of the game so to not score more was disappointing. We deserved to get something from the game.  I just managed to get there and fortunately for me it went in the back of the net. I thought I'd missed."

"To go from near enough scoring to the opposition going down the other end and scoring is disappointing. You switch off for two seconds in this game and you get punished."

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams told Tranmere Player.....

"The fans today were unbelievable, fantastic.  What was nice was that as we were leaving (Prenton Park) you could see so many coaches behind ours and that lifts you."

"Seeing that end, and having them behind me in the first half does give you a boost and it gave the lads a boost  They were singing and really passionate about the game and I think they played a massive part in how well we played."

The players have every right to be disappointed by the result (but certainly not by their performance which was IMO the best of the season by a long way and one of which they should be proud of) having been robbed of at least a point, not for the first time this season, by a disgraceful refereeing decision as regards to the so called penalty. It was an obvious dive and I bet that had that happened up the other end would have resulted in a yellow card for the attacker involved.

I am a North End fan and I must say Mellors blatant dive was ridiculous to say the least and yes you also were the better side throughout.
We haven't been playing well at home all season but somehow keep picking up 3 points. What did Mellor say to your fans when he ran behind the goal?

Was too far up to hear if he said anything but he subsequently got hit by a pie!

Haha. The guy who threw it was a bit of a fatty himself. He looked a bit gutted 5 minutes later when he realised he was still a bit peckish.

He might have said "what does it feel like to taste defeat?", then he got pied.

Upon which he drew his own conclusions .

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
