Blow for Rovers as Brazilian Dantas Refused Work Permit

Former trialist Vinny Dantas will not become a Tranmere Rovers player after an F.A hearing today saw him denied a work permit to play in the country.....
Tranmere have today suffered a major setback in their bid to sign further players ahead of the start of the new season with the news that an F.A hearing earlier today has refused a work permit for Brazilian trialist Vinny Dantas who had agreed to sign for the club subject to the permit being granted.
Dantas had spent two weeks on trial with Rovers in the early part of pre-season, impressing in a couple of behind closed doors games and also making a second half appearance in the 1-0 friendly defeat away at Chester. to the extent that he was offered a deal with the Club subject to the permit being granted.
The FA hearing at Wembley Stadium today and it's outcome, mean that Rovers may have to look elsewhere to boost their numbers in the squad.
Speaking of the decision a short while ago. Les Parry told the Tranmere Rovers Official Website....
"We're gutted by this decision. We thought we had a good case and that Vinni would have a bright future with us, but unfortunately that's not to be."
"I'd like to wish Vinni the best of luck with his career. He's a great lad with a lot of talent and potential and I'm sure he'll prove himself elsewhere."

Suggestions were made the other week that the Kithson Bain thing may work against us when it came to this one. Whether or not that is true remains to be seen.

Great, one less player in an already ridiculously thin squad. Good job the season starts on saturday.
i cant see that as the amount of children man utd liverpool etc can get permits for and never make it. does this mean that les will go after the lad we had on trial last week

It must be the work permit side of it rather than the visa because as far as I am aware Brazilians are non visa nationals.
It would also be interesting to know who actually made this decision ,what their qualifications are to make it and what their decision would be if it was a Premiership or top Championship team.I would venture to guess that the result would have been different.
I will try and find out what I can over time but not sure how much other information will be become available on this to be honest.

not really a surprise as hes never played professional football was always going to be unlikely to go are way.
why is this decision final.there must be an appeal sysytem and in fairness some one or board made a decision and everything is explainable.fight for what you believe and make these non tranmere football [prob manu,barcelona.arsenal etc supporters] see our validity.
kithson bain should have nothing to do with this as he is an international in his own right.
The fact that he was a futsbal star and not a 11 a side international for brazil may have a bearing on there decision without looking at the whole picture
there must be a place where trfc fans can write to and register their discontent at the boards prejudice or where they can accept a petition.

Oh well, it's there ready to go just asking who made the final call on it and under what criteria his permit was refused? Also enquired if these decisions are all merited on individual club/player cases or if there is just an umbrella set of laws/codes. Perhaps there is a gravity matrix?

so does that mean we will sign that other striker we've had on trial instead then. Can't remember his name unfortunately, but he was told he could feature if Dantas didn't sign
I read here he went to Plymouth for a trial.

what i dont understand is you see on uk border force people getting into the country because they want to study and are aloud to work for 30 hours a week for a year at a time and most of the time they over stay etc this would happen with a footballer to much legal risk for club and player surley the fa could have said yes he can sign but if he doesnt play in 20 games and doesnt prove to be a legue one footballer he must leave i feel that would be fair also i do wonder if we were to apeal we could in enrol him on the same course that the youth players do to which would class him as a student to which it could help us get a visa and permit as i think the youth players have a 2 year course if he is worth a second year enrol him onto the second year and get him in that way and he may have proved himself and may get a permit after that

i had the plesaure playing against Dantas,i only play local football but he played for 90 plus ministries as he is a real believer in god. i have to say he is exceptional. i am good but to watch somone on a different planet. gliding past people with ease. pure genius. i am gutted he has not got a work permit. i was so looking forward to watching him set the league alight and signing him on fifa. haha he even gave me a cup cake i nthe meal afterwards , 2 weeks later hes on sky sports news. classic but a real shame in being denied such an oppertunity for am sure no reason at all.

The FA committees often contain people from the county associations.What expertise/knowledge/right do they have on this subject to reach such an important life changing[for Danzas] decision?
A visa or entry clearance is usually issued in the country of origin prior to the person before they leave there.The work permit is the problem and the smaller the club you are,the more of a problem it seems to be.Brazilians are non visa nationals for UK entry

This is blatantly prejudicial against the little guy.We are not appealing against a sending off here.If he is as good as we think he may be ,we need to overturn this decision

Les has said good luck to him so no apeal there.
Frankly, i do not think he would have got into the team anyway . Les doesn't work like that, he is not looking for footballers who are pleasing to the eye.
I may be wrong but did Les say we had signed him pending his work permit coming through? I can't remember him saying that. If so, Les gave us false hope.

It was always on the provisal of obtaining WP the club always said that.
The thing as I said that is annoying is that this lad is a really good prospect after playing futsal. Futsal is what we are encouraging our youngsters to play, he could have been a face to this if he was shown good enough.

He was a potential prospect for sure but when one door closes another one opens. On tonights performance, Tiryaki should be signed tomorrow. He is what we need and has the potential to score goals.

i felt excitment when seeing him on the ball i feel a two year deal will pay off he can pass the ball on the floor and turn players
he started off well for havant but in their words fell away and didnt hit the net as they thought possibly owing to a bad back.That and the food poisoning thing means we can either teach him communication skills /honesty or avoid the nasty pasty.

Obviously it sounds like it was a Parry porkie when he said he was gutted. It's almost like Dantas never existed-he's gone-swept under the carpet. Pretty poor show if nothing is said to the fans about the whys and wherefores of the decision.
