The League One fixtures have this morning been released and Rovers have been handed a home match versus Chesterfield on the opening day of the season on Saturday 6th August which is then followed by the midweek away trip to Championship side Doncaster Rovers in the first round of the Carling Cup as confirmed yesterday morning.

Following that game in Yorkshire, Rovers will travel to Leyton Orient on the second Saturday of the season as the season gets underway quickly with three games in eight days.

Over the busy festive and new year period, Rovers will face a home tie on Boxing Day against Rochdale, before a home game against Bury in the last game of 2011 on new years eve and an away tie against Sheffield Wednesday in the opening game of 2012.

Ahem you seem to have 01.10.11 - AFCB (H) and 21.01.12 AFCB (A) missing off of the notable fixtures (Sm10)

Pleased with our away/your home date as that's 3 weeks before my son's birthday and he was desperate to get one of our games near then so he gets his new Jamaica kit!

Gutted with our home/your away date - 21st Jan - not really BBQ on the beach weather then is it!! sad smiley

Four of the last five seasons, the away game to Walsall has been in April.

Another stupid stat.

I am really happy with the fixtures though. December see's three home games and one away, if these all get called off like they usually do, it means only adding one Tuesday night away trip which is helpful.

You can print the seasons fixtures off from the BBC website, they've also got us in relegation in the league table (alphabetically speaking). Maybe we will see some activity in securing players now we have been reminded that the league starts in 7 weeks.

Maybe would have preferred avoiding a promoted team on the first day as they are usually buoyant, at least we are home though.

I saw that Scunthorpe one on the final day and got a horrible sense of de ja vu. McGurk will equalise and they will pinch it with 5 minutes left and finish 6th again and Tranmere 7th. Urrgh.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
