As Rovers see out the last game of 2010/11 in just under a fortnight's time, the Tranmere Former Players Foundation will be holding their launch event in Aldo's in the evening after the game which will hopefully be the start of many great future events involving the players we all fondly remember....

The Tranmere Former Players Foundation is holding it's launch event in Aldo's at Prenton Park in the evening after the final game of the season at home to Swindon Town on Saturday 7th May with tickets still on sale for what will hopefully prove to be the first of a number of great events involving players from Rover's past.

The Former Players Foundation has been set up to give fans the chance to meet their Rovers heroes of yesteryear and in some way re-create the old post-match days when players and supporters could meet for a drink post-game.

A number of ex-players are already confirmed as interested in the events and the launch event itself is likely to feature Tranmere's successful Masters Football team including Kenny Irons. Shaun Garnett, John McGreal and Ged Brannan amongst a number of others including legendary striker Ian Muir.

The event starts at 7.30pm in Aldo's (Prentonian Suite) on 7th May and includes a light buffet, disco and free entry to a prize draw as well as Masters Football ticket offers.  There is set to be a question and answer session with some of the past players and a chance to meet and have photographs taken with past heroes.

Speaking to The Liverpool Echo, organiser Steve Roper said:

“We are aiming to bring the ex-players back to Prenton Park and give supporters the chance to meet them.

“We are looking to help former players who require medical treatment or assistance with hardship and to raise funds for charities and worthy causes. We hope the Foundation will provide a platform for players to meet up again and share memories with supporters at social events."

“We are delighted with the support we are receiving from officials at the club and we are looking forward to continued cooperation with them.”

The event costs £15.00 and tickets and further details are available from the Gloryhunters shop on Borough Road near Tranmere Rovers or by telephoning 07951 554160 or 07950 341490.

TWO WEEKS TO GO AND OVER HALF THE TICKETS SOLD ALREADY, WE CANT SEE ANY CASH ON THE DOORS, THIS EVENT WILL BE A TICKET ONLY EVENT
