Tranmere Rovers host Notts County on Tuesday night in N Power League One, so for all the latest news and match updates, and all the pre, during and post-match discussion, don't forget to check out our Match Discussion thread............

HEADERNEW - matchdiscussion

Copyright Historical Football Kits and reproduced by kind permission.

For those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, particularly the high number of costly and time consuming southern away games, we at Total Tranmere will be providing a Match Discussion Thread on the Site for every Rovers game.

The thread will allow you to discuss everything from the pre-match build up and starting line-up to the game it as it progresses and the post-match analysis.

Where possible, Total Tranmere staff will post up the starting line-up and substitutes on the thread as soon as it is made known at the game.

Stadium - Tranmere Rovers (Night)

Tranmere of course host Notts County in N Power League One on Tuesday evening but if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on?

Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.

You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been along to the game.

What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.

Admin staff will try and add the team and updates on the game on this thread where possible but these details are updated also on our Twitter Page throughout the game so if you're not following us already why not do so at www.twitter.com/totaltranmere.

A friend from work went tonight. He is a Wrexham fan thought he would watch Tranmere. He text me saying that we was crap. Hit and hope was his words. I had a choice tonight of two free tickets Tranmere game or the Circus. I mad the right choice the Circus was entertaining but both had clowns in them......................................

12,249 is the attendance figure for tonight's game! Was good to see so many at the match. I don't think we played too badly to be honest. I thought it was a very difficult game and one which the referee had lost control of early on. Their players were dropping like flies anytime there was a challenge. It wasn't pretty and was unprofessional in my opinion, but they are fighting for their lives and came to get something from the game by whatever means necessary.

Hope that the lads heads don't drop for the remaining games, having won two on the bounce before tonight. Hartlepool is a difficult game to predict as they are playing for nothing, so it's hard to know how they'll approach it. Need to regroup and go again on Friday.

I've had my rant about County elsewhere so I will just focus on us.

Thought we played well first half, created a few chances and should have been in front before the penalty. As time ticked on in the second half we reverted to hoofball and we were never going to score apart from a lucky chance. When Jenno came on he had one run and that was it which for me is shocking because he's one player who could have turned the game.

Thought our midfield really missed Labadie tonght. Welsh was none existant in the first half, game just passed him by. Weir went missing again in the second half which I just put down to lack of match fitness. If he's fit I would stick Robbo in their on Friday just to add a bit of creativity.

On a side note, after last night i thank god that Lorraine Rogers made the decision to appoint Ronnie Moore instead of that clown Martin Allen. I would have hated to see those sort of tactics by a Rovers side.

I was about to say what the first post said but was beaten to it. It is "kick and hope" football. Launch it forward and hope we get a lucky bounce all the time. No width and definitely no creativity. Also look at the gap between the forward(s) and the midfield. Awful.
Some may think Allen is a disgrace but at least he gets animated and gees the team on unlike "Stone counter" Les.

CIRCUSPETE from now then as you are obviously not a Rovers supporter. The clown was the ref. Tranmere game was entertaining but for wrong reasons.

I'm actually really peeved that Tranmere couldn't get anything out of the game, because on chances County deserved nothing and I think Tranmere were good for at least a 2-0.

It's also not good that Les is employing some of the disjointed playing style again, that has dominated large sections of this season, when it looked as if he might have turned the corner in the last 2 games, for the most part, but even without Labadie, that disjointed style of play shouldn't factor back in as a result, it shouldn't be weedling it's way back into team tactics, but it would seem it is doing.

Les, stop wasting good players and your own reputation and get the ball to feet man.

Matt, sadly Les really only knows one way to play and thats why so many fans are unhappy with him being manager.

I thought we played pretty well last night, but the inability of our strikers to convert chances once again reared it's ugly head and, along with some horrific refereeing decisions and blatant cheating by Notts County cost us the game.

Their 'keeper made some cracking saves, the ones from McGurk, McChrystal and Weir. If it wasn't for him, they'd have comfortably lost that game.

However, Akins could have bagged himself at least two, Showunmi should have had one, Goodison could have had one and so could McGurk. The finishing simply wasn't good enough.

Thought we defended pretty well and Les made some good substitutions at the right time. Looks like Jennings is getting back to somewhere near his best, a couple of good runs after he came on, whilst McGurk is looking very confident at the moment too.

Disappointing result, but to be honest, we deserved so much more. Yeah, they hammered us at Meadow Lane and we won, but at least we didn't cheat our way to victory.

They are a horrible, dirty team. They could have had at least one man sent off before Ravenhill went out of his way to kick Robinson, whilst the fact they had three bookings (I think) for time wasting speaks volumes about their patheitc time wasting tactics.

Their feigning of injuries was a disgrace. Sodje had treatment on his chest before limping off the pitch! The referee lost control and let them get away with murder...and diving.

It was great to see so many fans there and I think the offer will have worked. We may not have won, but it was still an exciting game and any young child there for the first time will be desperate to come back. At this stage, to them, the result doesn't matter, and if they come, a parent will come too.

Les in Wednesday's Echo said we would have played the same, with regards to County's tactics!

People are are going way over the top about their time wasting etc yes it wasnt a penalty but zoom made it easy for the ref as he didnt need to make the challenge.

We played quite well in the first half but Akins really should have scored and their keeper made a few decent saves but then the 2nd half more often than not the ball was launched forward.

For the life of me i still cant see why Akins gets picked every game as all he does is win a few headers and little else, he cant score creates little and is a waste of a shirt

He knows nothing about the game and that is why he unable to shout any instructions during the game .
I believe he speaks in general terms to the team as a whole, and is incapable of instructing players as individuals or playing together as units.
What of his assistant ? Is he usless too or is Parry
beyond listening ?
Jennings should get to hell out of here in his own interest.

I am told that training is purely fitness based and exceedingly boring with very little tactical input or discussing upcoming games etc. Came from one of your players so assume he knows what he's talking about!

Sums our manager up, and our playing style so thats hardly a surprise on the whole!

Everything is about grafting for the team, their is hardly any technical play and our shape at times is dire!

Our tactics on the whole through the season involve lumping it down the line, we adopt something called "rugby style" - it involves gaining yards down the pitch. Winning a throw in ten yards further down the pitch is seen as an excellent piece of play. Probably why we've spent 80% of the season hoofing it at the opposition fullbacks head in the hope he heads it out for a throw.

I don't really want to know the plaers name, but out of interest, how was this brought to your attention? Newspapers, TV, Twitter etc, simply because being a Bournemouth fan, you'd have less reasons to have or know any contacts inside of Tranmere, than a Tranmere supporter would.

Just curious that's all, not being rude.

Easy answer I've known one of your players for about 11 years now, he's a friend of family (Sm13)

I will add it's not him that said it, I'd have to look at the profiles on the official site for the name of the other one, I can't remember it!

Les has never professed to be a tactitian though - I've always got the impression that he leaves that to his coaches, who are much more experienced than him

I notice they somehow came back from behind against Swindon today. Seeing as Swindon are already pretty much league 2 fodder, beting County would have been nice, but it has made it increasingly likely that they will be staying up and if they want to cheat their way to safety like they did against Tranmere, then so be it, but I hope their survival chokes them, especially Martin Allen.

They were never good enough to last more than one season in the top flight, getting relegated in 1991 and they're not good enough to be in this league either.
