Peterborough Utd v Tranmere Rovers Match Discussion
By Deadly Submarine
February 18 2011
Tranmere Rovers make the trip to Peterborough United on Saturday afternoon in N Power League One, so for all the latest news and match updates, and all the pre, during and post-match discussion, don't forget to check out our Match Discussion thread............
For those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, particularly the high number of costly and time consuming southern away games, we at Total Tranmere will be providing a Match Discussion Thread on the Site for every Rovers game.
The thread will allow you to discuss everything from the pre-match build up and starting line-up to the game it as it progresses and the post-match analysis.
Where possible, Total Tranmere staff will post up the starting line-up and substitutes on the thread as soon as it is made known at the game.
Tranmere of course travel to Peterborough United on Saturday afternoon in N Power League One so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on.
Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.
You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been along to the game.
What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.
Admin staff will try and add the team and updates on the game on this thread where possible but these details are updated also on our Twitter Page throughout the game so if you're not following us already why not do so at www.twitter.com/totaltranmere.
With all the talk of take overs etc, given how quiet it is, you'd think people have missed that we've just lost to the Posh and Enoch put the ball in his own net!
Credit must go to the Managers for wanting the game played today!
Despite what the Official Site says, the referee said at 12pm that the game should be off but both Managers wanted the game on and the referee went with it.
The conditions were hard work (for both teams) but the game was still entertaining.
We had about five decent chances including Zoom, Weir and Welsh which we simply didn't take and paid the price. A draw would have been the fairest result but not too much harm done and on to Tuesday now.
Substitutions cost us the game. Until Zoum came on, we looked very threatening going forward, with Akins and Pan looking very fluent and creating lots of chances. Zoum came on and it just broke up our fluency. He missed an absolutely golden opportunity at 1-1, putting a shot well over the bar from 12 yards. It was an abysmal attempt at goal and from the resulting goal kick, they went down the other end and got a corner from which they scored the second.
We really did have chances to win it though. Other than that Zoum chance, Pan and Weir both had excellent chances in the second half but we couldn't take them.
If we had a more clinical goalscorer we would have won that game. But we played out subs too early. Weir shouldn't have come on, we should have given McGurk a run out, at least he may have hit the target.
In defence, I thought we were very good - bar Goodison's terrible header for the first goal which fell straight to McCann who scored when unmarked.
Kay was terrific and made loads of brilliant tackles whilst Cresser and McChrystal had very solid games too.
Disappointed we didn't get something but not disappointined too in sense because it was Peterborough.
Plenty of confidence that we can still win on Tuesday
never liked this fixtue ! and would have been happy with a point ! sad no to keep a clean sheet ! but doesn't sound like keeper was to blame.
Cheers for report Sub
