Les Shares Delight as Megson Rues Another Defeat.....

After Tranmere earned a deserved 3-0 home win over Sheffield Wednesday at Prenton Park on Tuesday night to climb to 15th in the League One Table, Manager Les Parry expressed his delight at the winwhilst opposite number Gary Megson was left to rue another defeat for his new side......
Tranmere Manager Les Parry was delighted with his side's deserved 3-0 home win over Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night which saw Rovers climb to the dizzy heights of 15th place in League One and for the time being, six points clear of the relegation zone with four games in hand.
Speaking to Tranmere Player after the game, Les Parry said.....
"I think in the first half we cancelled each other out. Both teams worked their socks off and were trying to turn the other and it was a bit of stalemate. We had a feeling it would just be some little bit of magic of a mistake that would lead to the first goal and the cross and the header were just fantastic. I think Lateef caught them unawares, but when you're on a run of scoring.."
"The second goal was a free kick we work on a lot on the training ground and Cresser has put in a ball that any player in any league would be proud of. It's all in the delivery."
"It was a great finish for the third goal and you can see Enoch has got a bounce in his step. When he hasn't been scoring he's still been doing the business for us so I'm made up he got some reward for his hard work."
"As a unit our back four have really gelled. Mark McChrystal is a steadying unit. He doesn't do anything flash, doesn't try any tricks, he leaves that to Goody, but he's a good influence on Goody as well."
Meanwhile, Wednesday Manager Gary Megson was frustrated at another defeat for the team he recently took over, telling the Sheffield Wednesday Official Website......
"I thought that we were the better side tonight for an hour and then we didn't step up to the mark and it's 1-0. The sending-off did us no favours and after that we did not defend a bouncing ball in the penalty area and you cannot do that."
"If anyone was going to score after the first 15 minutes of the first half I thought it was going to be us. The tackle wasn't technically the best but maybe it was harsh because there were other tackles out there that were very similar. But we allowed them to score from the resulting free kick."

At the very worst it was equal as it was a sloppy first half full of hoofball from both sides.
Perhaps some sour grapes there? I do agree that the Red Card looked a little harsh though.
Fantastic result and now 15 points from 8 games, which is about 63% points, so a great run by the team and Les. All the festive signings have gotten some action and been well worth bringing in.
Hopefully Robbo will get over his little calf niggle soon and be good for a solid 90 minutes.
Incidentally, I like the website picture of him appearing to lick his lips. Could he have been sampling some of the half-time cuisine, pre-match perhaps

Goals changed games and it certainly changed the game for us last night as the confidence flowed through the team once we got the lead. Megson is talking rubbish about the sending off it was a bad two footed challenge and deserved to go, ive seen it on tv this morning and its bad.
I thought our defence was solid through most of the game although teale did give creswell some anxious moments in the first half.
A big test awaits our defence on saturday id be happy with a point

well i went to Tranmere last night, got to say nice little ground for a league one club, compared to alot of the shitty little grounds, We wendnesday fans were treated well by you guys and the staff so well done to you there. Our team is absolutley shocking at the moment and we need good leadership in it, im not taking anything away from Tranmere and the result but cmon we are Sheffield Wednesday and we should not be in this league , but yes we are and yes we are in the bottom half. Well done to you guys for the Win, i bet you love the noise Wednesday make on away games, it makes for a good match. Good look to the future Tranmere, ohh and by the way get a clock so we can all see the bloody time lol .
Madine is a fool for signing for them in my opinion, just for the better money, as they probably won't make the playoffs, whereas playing regularly for Carlisle, would have boosted their chances of a playoff place and his chance of being in the Championship next season, but they may not make it now either.
He just looks like a back up player and at some point if he tied to move on to get regular games, there might only be 4-6 clubs in league one by then, who could pay what he's on now, but looking at him and knowing he could be one of ther 4-5 top earners, but having no consistent form, they could get cold feet and look at league 1 and 2 sides with lower budgets, get a form striker, by offering him another £1,500-£2,500 a week and bringing him in for less than Madine would cost.
Then Madine would have to seriously slash his wage requirements, to price himself back in with a lot of other clubs, becasue I doubt Wednesday offered him about £500 a week more money than Carlisle paid him.
Waste of money as well by Irvine, as I doubt he's a serious improvement on their cover players, so why spend a big chunk to get a slightly better 3rd choice player, you might as well stick with what you got.
Irvine signed about 6 new players and said he wanted more, but couldn't get them in time.
Reda Johnson was a good replacement for Tudgay, but with players like Morrison, Mellor, Weaver and Coke you should be able to do well without having to get a slew of fresh bodies in at Christmas. 3-4 newbs should have been the limit I think.
Megson will have a lot of chaff to discard come summer I know that much.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

Thought the support from the wednesday supporters was great and great credit to them for turning out in such numbers for a mid-week game.
One point however, why do Rovers only use one side of the pitch
when they are taking a goal kick.Enochs flick ons would surely be more fruitful if they used all the pitch.
