Scott Wootton has re-joined Tranmere Rovers, for the second time, on an emergency loan deal until January from Premier League giants Manchester United.
Wootton, who came through the Tranmere academy before joining Liverpool and then Manchester United, has already spent one month on loan at Prenton Park this season, making five appearances for teh club and scoring once.
The defender, who has been a regular for Manchester United's youth and reserve teams over the last few years, joins Rovers as cover, as Marlon Broomes, Ian Goodison, Tim Cathalina and Jermaine Grandison are all currently struggling with injury, whilst Ash Taylor is still returning to match fitness.
The signing of Wootton comes ahead of the close of the loan window this Thursday evening, whilst Wootton will be available to play for Rovers in their next game against Huddersfield on Tuesday.
There is talk of this transfer in our new podcast, which is set to be released later today.
I wonder how many emergency loans ur allowed in a season!! haha we'll have a team full of them soon. Hope we keep Wooton until end of season and send Grandison back.
Personally the way the league is this season. I don't think Tranmere in the playoffs is impossible, but most highly improbable, probably a 10% likelihood at best, but I do think a better league placing is more than possible and I don't mean 1-2 places higher, I think a good 6-8 possibly more might be achievable.
I have always thought Grandison was a pretty decent loan, but I like Wotton and think he will bring added value to the team, especially as his prior connections could give him more of a heart and passion, for the results the team gets, as opposed to just looking for a bit more exposure.
Actually, if Tranmere had had 3 points in the Brighton game, by actually getting at least one of the penalties, the extra 2 points means the Hartlepool game would have been played, to achieve the same points total, as some of the playoff teams were on.
But Matt we didnt get any extra points from that game so its a fitrly pointless arguement & you could say the reverse in other games we have got points when maybe we didnt deserve too.
