Vote for your MOTM following Tranmeres 2-1 defeat in their opening game against Oldham Athletic.
Following Tranmere's 2-1 defeat too Oldham Athletic on the opening day of the 2010/11 NPower League One Season, Total Tranmere is giving you your chance to vote for Tranmere's Man of the Match.
Oldham took the league after 27 minutes when Dale Stephens free-kick was struck past 'keeper Gunnar Nielsen. Stephens doubled the lead on 81 minutes with a strike outside the area, before want-a-way striker Ian Thomas-Moore scored a late header for Rovers.

For me welsh had a very poor game, lost the ball several times and struggled to win it back, for me cresswell gave a positive performance going forward but stil looks weak at the back are main problam 2day was trying the long ball over and over again and only having 2-3 players outside of centrebacks over 6 foot.
It's a close one between Aaron and Welsh for me. Cresswell put in a really solid performance and created all of our best chances with his crossing, whilst Welsh was like a little terrier in midfield, after every ball and ten times better than Labadie or McLaren
Welsh was fantastic today and battled for everything so my vote would go to him, when the chips are down we need players like him.Devestated by ITM's transfer request, we need to offer him 2 years and hope he stays or it will be another long , hard season.
Welsh? He did absolutely nothing. He looks like he's spent the summer eating pies. Slow, ponderous, failed to close down and abysmal passing. One of the reasons the defence was so exposed was he lack of effectiveness.
ITM seemed to be on a mission to get himself sent off, he kept rising to the Oldham fans abuse and displayed some disgraceful behaviour during that brawl at the end where he had to be restrained by Oldham and Tranmere players. If he's going to play with that attitude for the rest of the season were going to have serious problems.
SWA were you watching the same game?? John Welsh failed to close down?? The defence was exposed due to the lack of experience in it and if it wasn't for Welsh it could have been even worse.
ITM is the reason we are still in this league and I agree with the above that not having him is the bigger concern, he was showing passion for the team at the end and fighting spirit which is what we need , I agree we cant brawl during a match but at least we showed passion and commitment even if the quality is somewhat lacking.Get behind the lads .
I notice you failed to comment on who was your man of the match by the way??
I thought the formation that we played 4 3 3 restricted the players performance, also we had limited options with the front three which inturn impacted on the midfield. The three in the middle were out numbered, when they got the ball only ITM offered an option, TG would have been better playing inside he aint no winger and ES looked like Michael Ricketts all over again, giving him the benefit of doubt he must be lacking match fitness. Did any one count the attempts on goal for Tranmere? the goal keeper did nt even get his gloves dirty until he picked the ball out of the net from ITM.
If the opposing fans were calling your Mum a @#$%& it would fire you up,unless you dont like your Mum,you also dont know what the players were saying to him,or if he had a bad history with them,he is always fired up against Oldham,& Iwould rather have a fired up player playing his heart out than a player going through the motions, the only worrying thing for me is that SWA used to talk good sense, now he seems to see different things than the rest of the posters,is old age setting in early?
Normally ITM ignores the criticism from Oldham fans and plays well. Yesterday he ran around like a headless chicken and was probably lucky not to get sent off. He is a vital player for us, but his mind is clearly not right at the moment.
Welsh just ran around a lot to little effect, although this site is the Craig Curran fan site so I can understand why that automatically makes him man of the match in your eyes. Welsh is a good player, I just thought he had a bad game, like most of the players yesterday.
I gave man of the match to Goodison who was fairly solid apart from one dodgy moment at the end of the 1st half. He stopped a certain goal and set up ITM's goal whilst also trying his best to keep Oldham out with no right back and a very nervous centre back. Creswell also played ok but his crossing was a bit wasteful with the exception of the one that Ricketts, sorry Shownummi somehow didn't get on target.
I find it hard to be positive about this season Matthew the Rover when our only decent striker wants to leave, we have someone who looks out of his depth as manager, we've lost 66% of the management team from last season, we can't even afford John Macken on £1500 a week, we have a team comprised of rejects as well as players who have never played a full season before, we have no proven quality with the exception of ITM, Goodison and Zoom. (Labadie and Welsh are the other players with notable ability), our key defensive midfielder/best partner for Goodison is out for 4 months, we play 4-3-3 yet the team clearly cannot play it and finally Paul McLaren gets a game every week despite doing absolutley nothing.
I can really see us going down this season, and it will probably take us at least 3 years to be able to mount a challenge to get promoted.
Goody 2 shoes for me - rather disappointed with the team performance in general but good to see that Aaron C. had a good game,Why not use him on the left of the midfield with Zoom behind him. Need to cancel Paul Mc.contract ( have not been impredded with him since he returned last year). We must .....no, have to get better or we will be struggling for the rest of the season!
im in the minority but didnt rate welsh. ITM was no better than gornell to begin it werent till 2nd half he improved us.
all dreadful to be truthful. if i HAD to vote for someone id say labadie, absolutely nothing came off for him saturday but he got stuck in and was the only midfielder getting in their half of the pitch to try an support strikers. like i say it came to nothing today but the rest of the team were worse. fraughn done well but didnt get enough time
