Voting Opens for Rovers Hall of Fame

As promised towards the end of the 2008/09 season as season tickets offers were launched, part of Tranmere's 125th Anniversary celebrations is to see a Hall of Fame set up for past Rovers players and the time has now come for Rovers fans to vote for their favourite five Players who will be the first to be inaugrated into the Hall of Fame........
Towards the end of last season when outgoing Chairman Lorraine Rogers announced the season ticket prices for the 2009/10 season, a number of 125th anniversary events were promised and following on from the special home kit, former players parade and a fair amount of 125th related merchandise in the Club Shop, the time has come to focus on the promised and much awaited Tranmere Rovers Hall of Fame.....
Tranmere supporters are therefore now being invited to help decide the inaugural members of the Club's new Hall of Fame as part of their 125 year anniversary celebrations.
The Club wants supporters old and young to nominate which players they feel deserve a place in the Hall of Fame - with the first five places being decided this season. Fans can vote for any players who have made a first team appearance from the Club's first days in 1884 to the present day - as long as they feel those players deserve a place in the Hall of Fame.
The Club has had a host of memorable names on its books since its initial days as Belmont FC including the likes of Dixie Dean, Bunny Bell, Harold Bell, George Yardley, Steve Coppell, John King, Ray Mathias, Steve Mungall, Ian Muir, Jim Harvey, John Morrissey, Eric Nixon, John Aldridge, Pat Nevin, Steve Yates, Jason Koumas, David Kelly and many more.
Who you, the supporters decide to vote for though is of course completely up to you and there are bound to be lots of names put forward so make sure you make your votes count.
Speaking of the Hall of Fame initiative, Chief Executive Mick Horton said:
"We are very proud of our 125 year history and we want to celebrate it by starting our own Hall of Fame."
"There have been many players at Tranmere Rovers worthy of being described as a club legend, but we want the names of our first five Hall of Fame members to be decided by our supporters."
"No doubt this will get a lot of fans thinking and we look forward to receiving their votes over the coming weeks."
To help in the choosing of the first five Hall of Fame players, you can nominate up to five players by one of the following methods.....
- Email halloffame@tranmererovers.co.uk with up to five names of players they would like to see inducted, along with your own name and contact details.

- Fill in a form in the Club Shop or Ticket Office.
The closing date for nominations is Saturday, 27th February.
Votes will be added up with the top five being revealed at the end of the season. The five inaugural members will be featured in a permanent display in the Club's executive lounges and also in a new section on the Club website, http://www.tranmererovers.co.uk/.
The Hall of Fame won't be limited to the initial five players as further votes will take place future seasons to induct more Players into what will become a growing Hall of Fame.

Do I go for the BEST players (eg Muir Koumas Taylor etc) or for the players with the most INFLUENCE (such as Gary Williams and Chrissy Malkin for exmaple).
I'm going to think hard about this before I submit my choices.

I'd start with Nixon
errm Maybe Roberts, Goodison, Aldridge, Muir
both deserve to be in there but Mogsy was more based on my favouritism

After that it's more of a struggle. I went for David Kelly as I think he has a huge place in our history having scored in the Worthington Cup Final for us, and I also went for Gareth Roberts.
1) Harold Bell
2) Abe Rosenthal.
3) Eric Nixon.
4) George Yardley
5)Jonny Wheeler
so im thinking over time ALL the above names mentioned will find there way into the hall of fame.
so i can feel less guilty about missing a few names out

Ian Muir (club's record goalscorer)
Ray Mathias (club's record appearance holder)
John Aldridge (nuff said)
Warwick Rimmer (for work in youth development at club)
In any case I would want to see recognition of those who made a substantial contribution to that history. Players like, Harold Bell. Lenny Kieran, George Payne,Johnny Morrissey,Steve Vickers, John Aldridge,John King.
