Rovers Manager John Barnes was pleased to end his side's run of League defeats at home to Colchester this afternoon but didn't shy away from the fact that there is still a lot more to be done to improve on the terrible start to the season......

Rovers Manager John Barnes was pleased with the 1-1 home draw with high flying Colchester United in League One this afternoon but was far from getting carried away after a run of six straight League defeats came to an end.

Barnes told Tranmere Player....

"It's a good point.  I was a bit worried before the game when I saw their team as I knew they would pose a very physical threat.  But we stood up to it well.  In the first half we passed the ball well, got into good positions and got our midfield players forward. It was a bit of a catastrophe for their goal, but the response was good."

"We didn't play as well in the second half but we still had opportunities. They had opportunities as well, but they're a big strong side who are in the top six for a reason."

"I was pleased with the point after the last eight games we've had. Three points would have been nice after the run we've had, but I'll take one."

"We haven't turned the corner. Even if we had won it would still have been just one win. But it should help the confidence."

"If we put on performances like that we will be ok. We're in the pressure zone so the biggest thing I want the players to take from this is the confidence that they can play and pick up points against good sides."

"That is the starting point for us individually and collectively to say we can compete at this level."
