Following on from the announcement earlier today of Rovers pre-season trip to League Two side Macclesfield Town, confirmation later came of the first home friendly to be announced which sees Championship side Preston North End travel to Prenton Park.

After a host of away friendlies being confirmed for Ronnie Moore's men, news of the first home friendly also materialised earlier today with the news that Championship side Preston North End will visit Prenton Park on Saturday 18th July with a 3.00pm kick-off.

Confirmation of this game came just hours after the announcement that Rovers would visit Macclesfield Town from League Two on Saturday 25th July taking the total number of friendlies confirmed so far to six.

In the past ten days we have announced that four other teams will host Rovers at home in pre-season as Cammell Laird, Southport and Welsh sides Holyhead Hotspur and Buckley Town welcome Rovers ahead of the new season.

So far Rovers' friendlies for 2009/10 pre-season are....

Fri 10th July - Holyhead Hotspur (A) Kick Off 7.00pm

Tues 14th July - Cammell Laird (A) Kick Off 7.00pm

Saturday 18th July - Preston North End (H) Kick Off 7.00pm

Tues 21st July - Southport (A) Kick Off 7.45pm

Sat 25th July - Macclesfield Town (A) Kick Off 3.00pm

Weds 29th July - Buckley Town (A) Kick-Off 7.30pm
