Latest Rovers Fanzine Issue Now on Sale

The latest issue of the Rovers Fanzine ‘Give Us An R’ is now on sale and as ever Total Tranmere is the only Rovers Site to bring you a detailed look at why the Fanzine is once again well worth a read. The usual features are again joined by some new material making it once again worth the £2.00 cost.
It doesn't seem like long ago that Total Tranmere were bringing you the a review of the previous edition of the Rovers Fanzine ‘Give Us An R' but once again Dave has been hard at work on another edition which is on sale now (Issue 52).
As well as the usual features, there are some interesting articles not previously seen in the Fanzine including an interesting piece on the development of Prenton Park during the summer of 1994 and during the 1994/95 season that followed.
The recent away trips to Yeovil (where Rovers lost 1-0) and Peterborough Utd in the FA Cup (where Rovers drew 0-0) are covered in the usual detail and there is also another interview with a Tranmere fan about his experiences of supporting Rovers which follows on from the recent interviews with Deadly Submarine of Total Tranmere and also Tony Coombes.
Regular contributors to the Fanzine include The Doctor, Paddock Man and Total Tranmere's very own Deadly Submarine whom amongst other bits, brings some information on John Achterberg's testimonial which takes place in February, March and April of this year.
In a follow up to the first part in the last issue, there is more on Rovers' second trip to Italy in the Anglo-Italian Cup in the 1990's when the Superwhite Army faced Pisa. With the first part having dealt with the build-up to the game, the second part looks at the game itself which Rovers went on to win 1-0 in front of a relatively poor crowd.
The Latest Issue of Give Us An R - On Sale Now!
An article on young kids bunking into Prenton Park in the Sixties in the days when although football wasn't as commercial and expensive as it is now, was still unaffordable to many also appears in this issue. The article shows how much football has changed in terms of stewarding and policing perhaps since the hooligan days of the Seventies.
Perhaps the most interesting article of this issue is the first part of the story of the redevelopment of Prenton Park using pictures taken during the redevelopment stages to accompany the text of the story. From the demolition of three and a half sides of the Stadium at the end of the 1993/94 season to the first match in a two-sided Stadium at the start of the 1994/95 season, the article makes fascinating reading.
There is also a little snippet towards the end of the issue about the many managerial changes that occur on a regular basis these days.
At just £2.00, ‘Give Us An R' is a worthwhile purchase for any avid Rovers' Fan so if you have perhaps thought about buying it before but never got round to it, why not make this issue your first one?
We can highly recommend it as a publication written by fans for fans and with no connection in its content to the Club itself, giving views that you may not otherwise see in a matchday programme.
It can be bought at all Rovers home matches from Dave who positions himself on the left hand side of the road entrance to the Main Car Park at Prenton Park on the bit of waste ground on the opposite side of the entrance to the Mersey Clipper Pub (Dave is usually standing just under the Board which shows the next few matches that are due to be played at Prenton Park).
Dave is also at almost all Rovers away matches during the season, standing somewhere near the away turnstiles selling the Fanzine so there is plenty of chances to pick up your copy at Colchester or Millwall - you won't regret it in our opinion.
