Mark Ridgway takes a brief look at the ups and not so many downs of Rovers' 2-1 home win over Leeds Utd on Saturday thanks to goals in either half of the match from Antony Kay and Ian Moore which out Rovers back into play-off contention for the time being at least.

Weather Report

Not too cold considering its December, nice weather for a footy match.

Crowd

8,700 Unsurprisingly Leeds sold out their section and there was a clear increase in Rovers fans.

Referee Watch

R Shoebridge - Many Leeds fans will leave moaning about his performance but I don't think he did much that was in favour of us. The only talking point was weather Becchio's goal should have been disallowed...you decide!  - 7/10

Best Moment

Ian Moore hitting a peach from long range against his former club was the greatest moment.  Something for Rovers fans to celebrate in front of the Leeds fans.

Worst Moment

Obviously the Leeds goal wasn't a good moment but there was something else that was worse off the pitch. A large object [mega phone] was thrown at the linesman from the Leeds stand, fortunately for him it only hit his leg but if it was hit his head it could have caused damage.

Funniest Moment

When Becchio scored and the Leeds stand erupted only for them to realise it wasn't going to count.

Tranmere Man of the Match

Ian Goodison - He was hands down the best player on the park, an immense performance from Ian who threw himself at everything and was calm as every towards the end.  Every player was fantastic though and it was a great performance.

Connections

Ian Moore was the main connection between the two sides.  Ian spent some time in Yorkshire before leaving for Hartlepool .

Rovers Fans

Many rose the occasion and really got behind the team, seeing a large away backing was bound to lift the home fans.

Leeds Fans

Predictably they filled there stand and were singing throughout, the vast majority sang right the was through half time swinging their scarves/shirts.

Summary

A great performance from Rovers who deservedly beat Leeds and it was a great result for Rovers fans to celebrate.

Entertainment Value

A  game both teams gave 100% in a full blooded affair, not many chances but it kept you on the edge of your seat and obviously Rovers will leave the happier. 7/10
