Rovers in Hunt for United Midfielder Jones

Tranmere are reportedly leading the hunt along with Scottish side Hearts for former Manchester United midfielder Ritchie Jones. Jones was released last week by Manchester United after coming up through the youth systems at Old Trafford and would be a decent addition to the Rovers' squad.

Rovers Chase Former Man United Midfielder

Tranmere are believed to be in a head to head chase with Scottish Premier League side Hearts for former Manchester United midfielder Ritchie Jones.

The 21 year-old former England Under-19 International, released last week by Sir Alex Ferguson, was part of Manchester United's ever productive youth system and in his time at Old Trafford has made five first team appearances for the team.

Jones also had a loan spell at Burnley who are also believed to be interested in signing him along with Hartlepool and Blackpool but reports suggest it's Tranmere and Hearts that lead the way in chasing the youngster and are at the front of the queue.

If Rovers are indeed chasing Jones, then Ronnie Moore would seemingly be chasing the right sort of targets and may give Rovers Fans a boost as concern grows about the Players who have left the Club with only one new signing coming in so far.

Meanwhile, rumours are going stronger that Rovers midfielder Paul McLaren will join League Two side Bradford in the next week.

Stay tuned for Total Tranmere for more on this and other transfers as new signings will surely start to come in next week.

Ian Moore found the travel to Hartlepool from his home in Warrington too much last season but I suppose Jones may move up there.

There is nothing concrete that we were ever in for him in the first place, so there is nothing to suggest that Hartlepool can pay more than us at all

If Jones lives the other side of Manchester/Yorkshire then it isn't gonna be a major amount more further to their than it is to here.

Besides, he nearly signed for Hearts so perhaps he does live further north than Manchester or wants to move north?
