All the News and Statistics ahead of the visit of Swansea City to Prenton Park on Saturday in Coca-Cola League One. Tranmere are looking to solidify a position in the top six against promotion rivals Swansea in a crunch match.

Coca-Cola League One at Prenton Park

 

Tranmere entertain Swansea City this week in a massive game on the road to promotion.  Swansea arrive under newly appointed manager Roberto Martinez after the Club recently parted company with Kenny Jackett, after he decided he didn’t want to be in charge anymore, following a poor run of form.

Rovers drew 0-0 away at Swansea earlier this season, with what was considered a good away point, although the best of the games chances fell to Swansea during the Friday night game.  This time around at Prenton Park Ronnie Moore will no doubt be looking to go one better by beating Swansea and opening a larger gap between the two clubs.

Swansea have recently been in poor form although the appointment of Martinez as manager has seen a win and a draw, before that Swansea were falling apart.  Tranmere meanwhile are getting results although the one point from the games against Cheltenham and Leyton Orient doesn’t really reflect true form as Rovers were missing many players through injury.

Swansea currently occupy 9^th place 4 points back on Rovers with a Tranmere win taking Swansea out of the promotion race slightly, although a run of good results would no doubt see them in the mix. Swansea started the season no a sour note after losing to newly promoted Cheltenham 2-1 losing to Oldham and drawing with Scunthorpe. 

Three wins from four saw an upturn in their fortunes but then three defeats in four slashed the resurgence.  Since then Swanseas season has been a tale of winning sprees and losing streaks, with most of the clubs results coming in small runs and the defeats coming in their own runs, no real consistency has been found.

Speaking of a lack of consistency, it is one of Tranmeres problems too as recent form shows- DWDWDW, although unbeaten in 6 Tranmere have not managed back to back home wins for a while, looking at this run it seems a draw is next on the cards but can Tranmere break the win-draw chain? 

Rovers will have to look out for skillful front-man Lee Trundle, he has bagged 15 goals already this year, although Swansea will also be watching Chris Greenacre as the Tranmere striker has gone one better than Trundle and bagged 16 goals so far this season.

Its an important game on the road to promotion so get behind the lads and enjoy the game!

Rovers are without defender John Thompson (knee) but John Mullin is available after suffering a dead leg.  Captain Ian Goodison is expected to play despite missing training this week with an on-going ankle problem.

 

Swansea City

 

Swansea have Dennis Lawrence and Kevin Amankwaah back from suspension but are without the services of Kevin Austin (heart scare), Darren Pratley (shoulder), Adebayo Akinfenwa (broken leg) and Richard Duffy (foot).
