Rovers Match Moved for Sky TV Coverage!

Tranmere have today announced that the January away trip to Gillingham has been moved to a Friday night for Sky TV coverage.

Tranmere’s away game at Gillingham originally scheduled for Saturday January 27th 2007 has now been moved forward by a day to Friday 26th for Sky TV coverage meaning Rovers will appear on Sky for the first time since the play-off second leg defeat at home to Hartlepool in May 2005.

 

The decision by Sky to show the game has its good and bad points from a Rovers point of view.  On the bad side, Rovers do not have a great recent record in front of the Sky cameras in League matches and the decision to move the game to a Friday night will surely affect the number of Rovers fans attending the game.

 

However, the TV coverage will give Rovers a small financial boost following their failure on Saturday to progress to the third round of the FA Cup and it will also allow fans who are unable to travel away on a regular basis the chance to see Rovers in action on the road.
