Friday 8th September 2006 – Kick-Off 7.45pm
Coca-Cola League One at Prenton Park
By Deadly Submarine
Bristol City are the first Friday Night visitors to Prenton Park this season for this Friday’s League One encounter in which Rovers could move to the top of the table depending on the result.
If Tranmere were to win by four goals or more, they would move to the top of the League overnight until the rest of the teams play on Saturday afternoon but against Bristol City, a win is not even certain let alone a win by a four-goal margin.
Bristol City have been something of a bogey team for Rovers in recent years with Rovers not having beaten the Robins since March 2004 when a Eugene Dadi goal eight minutes from time sealed the victory at Prenton Park.
Last season, City won 1-0 at Ashton Gate thanks to a Luke Wilkshire goal and then in the return game, the south west side again triumphed 3-0 at Prenton Park thanks to goals from Brooker, McCammon and a Woodman penalty.
This season Rovers find themselves in second place in the League going into this game and are four games unbeaten including three straight wins in their last three league matches. City have won three and lost three so far this season but go into the trip to Prenton Park on the back of two successive wins.
