I use the term 'fans' loosely. Lets be honest you are not real Chelsea 'fans', you are more like groupies around a successful pop band enjoying the moment or moments until the next big thing arrives and then you will move on to that.
Lets be honest again. You come to Chelsea. Spend your money and treat your visit as an afternoon or evening as if you are at a cinema, opera or theatre. Sitting there in your seats, legs closed together, hands on knees and clapping politely when the moment calls for it. You know who you are, dressed in your corduroys or thigh high boots wearing green hunting jackets and if you are a lady face made up to the nines as if you were posing in cosmo, cos page 3 is not good enough for you. But let me tell you one thing. Tomorrow is FA Cup day and 'your' team is playing a team from League One who are in contention for promotion to the Championship. Its Chelsea v Huddersfield and the chances are you do not know where Huddersfield is and more likely don't care a damm in the world as to where Huddersfield is neither. But Huddersfield it is and Huddersfield we play. Huddersfield Town are bringing 6,000 fans with them tomorrow on a 'jolly' from Yorkshire. From the moment these fans start to enter the ground and fill up their allocation of seats in 'The Shed End' they will sing, chant and make so much noise the chances are they will 'wake the dead' in Brompton Cemetry and they will continue to make noise until the final whistle. No matter if their team has won, drawn or got stuffed, they will give themselves a day to remember! At least we will witness the 'Shed' End completely bathed in Blue and White again. As Chelsea fans, not only is there a potential for a banana-skin or the shocks of all shocks as in Huddersfield winning tomorrow, but we have the possibility of a major embarrassment of being outsung, outsupported by the opposition fans. The MHL stand will do their best (with me in it) orchestrating the 'home' atmosphere with pockets of fans in the West Stand joining in and doing their best, but we need the whole of the East Stand and the West Stand Lower, Corporate City in the Middle Tier and those up high in the Upper Tier of the West Stand making more noise than ever before. (If you are in the West Stand Upper and can smuggle in a megaphone each, that will help LOL)!!!! One newspaper hack wrote in his column at the beginning of the week whilst musing over the Birmingham game, that the atmosphere at Stamford Bridge is like a 'Fridge.' Colder than the coldest day in Siberia I think he also added. So come on you 'so-called' Chelsea fans. Get those throats gargled in the morning, get your hands off your knees, your bums off your seats and support 'your' team of the moment. COME ON CHELSEA!! 40 YEARS A BLUE!
