If you live near or can get down to Park View Road, the home of Welling United tomorrow, when The MIGHTY WINGS entertain Basingstoke in the Blue Square South (k.o. 3pm) you might bump into three footballing legends – Chelsea’s Kerry Dixon and Paul Canoville and West Ham’s Billy Bonds – who will be there supporting a very good cause, OUR ARMED FORCES VETERANS.
Tonight, the U18s travel to Pride Park to take on Derby County’s U18s in the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup which kicks-off at 7pm.
It is always an exciting time to watch our youngsters play and monitor their progress and this batch of U18s are no exception.
They have already been involved in an exciting cup campaign so far – beating Colchester United 3-2, Charlton Athletic 3-2 after extra-time AND after being 2-0 down and then in the last round Chelsea defeated Barnsley 3-0.
Youth team manager Adi Viveash refuses to take Derby County lightly. He said, “It’s another difficult tie. I went to watch them play against Man City in the last round and they’re a very hard-working team.
“They thoroughly deserved to beat Man City. That wasn’t a freak result, they really played well.”
There will be LIVE UPDATES on the message board below, and team news will be published as soon as it becomes available.
In the NextGen series, the U19s will be at home to Juventus in the quarter-finals after they beat Rosenborg 1-0 last night.

Chelsea had to work hard to reach their 5th FA Youth Cup semi-final in six years with a competitive, grafting performance to see of a tough, compromising and sometimes spiteful Derby team, who prior to tonight had won their last seven games.
Chelsea took the lead from a Lewis Baker penalty in the first-half after Etheridge clattered Reece Mitchell's leg at the edge of the area, subsequently Mitchell hobbled off and was taken to hospital for further checks.
Despite Derby's possession, Chelsea created the chances and it didn't look like it was going to be Kiwomya's night as he was denied by Etheridge on a couple of occasions.
Derby equalised in the early stages of the second-half when Bennetts cross was unluckily deflected off Davey and looped over Beeney into the far corner of the net.
Kiwoyma got the goal he deserved when Chelsea broke after Dales had a glorious chance to give Derby the lead, but Beeney saved, the ball broke to Colkett who turned in the midfield and slotted the ball through to Kiwomya who switched to his right foot and belted the ball past Etheridge who was rooted to the spot at his near post.
Chelsea played out the final few minutes and hearts were in mouths when Derby hit the bar with the last kick of the game.
Chelsea will now face the winners of Hull City or Liverpool who play next Tuesday in the semi-final. Chelsea will be away for the 1st leg.
