At least ‘The Portly One’ is consistent. Two games, two draws, two clean sheets, two blanks, two points and oh almost forgot, two chances. Oh Roman, what have you done? Sixteen minutes in, the cry from the patient (sometimes), frustrated faithful went up, ‘One Di Matteo, there’s only one Di Matteo.’

‘The Portly One’ changed it around.

Romeu in for Mikel, Bertrand in for Mata and the changes caused more problems than solutions, because The Blues lack of creativity struggled to break down a resilient Fulham rearguard.

It was only when Mata came on in the second-half, Chelsea did make inroads, but Fulham held strong and at the final whistle, boos echoed round the high stands of The Bridge.

Had it not been for Cechie boy saving brilliantly from Riise’s bullet of a shot late in the second-half in all probability all hell would have broken loose.

This afternoon, Chelsea announced a 23 man squad for the trip to Japan for the Club World Cup, a journey that begins straight after the Sunderland game at The Stadium of Light, next Saturday 8^th December.

Before that there is the small matter of West Ham away on Saturday lunchtime and then the BIG (sarcasm) one – FC Nordsjaelland in six days time.

Simple analogy – NO GOALS, NO PROGRESS!!!
