It’s White Wall redemption time. When Chelsea won their first title in 50 years under Mourinho back in 2004, Chelsea were lambasted by jealous, rival fans, ‘You bought the title.’ When we won it the following year, again the same was said, ‘You bought the title’ and the same applied to the Carling Cup, the FA Cup blah, blah blah and yet again when Chelsea won their third title.
Now Money Citeh are the BIG, BIG spenders, but they couldn’t buy the Carling Cup, they just about bought the FA Cup last season, they have been knocked out of Europe TWICE in three months and they are currently four points behind the Champions and current league leaders, Man Utd.
Resurgent Chelsea can go to the Etihad tonight and put a serious huge dent in Money Citeh’s ‘buying the title’ aspirations as they look to continue to impress under the tenureship of Robbie Di Matteo and Eddie Newton.
With Fernando Torres now playing his best football since joining Chelsea, for me, his change of fortunes simply prove that he wasn’t ‘wanted’ either by Carlo Ancelotti and AvB.
All this season right up to the point of AvB’s dismissal, when Torres was on the pitch, he was simply passed around and this isn’t the first time I have said it.
I do hope Di Matteo continues with Torres, but one notable absentee will be the ‘One England Captain,’ John Terry.
Di Matteo said yesterday, “I expect JT to be ok for Saturday, it’s not serious, we were lucky he came back so early. He’s a crucial member of our team and good leader on the pitch.
“It’s better when he’s available but he’ll be ok for Tottenham, I have to manage everybody not just one player.”
