Wigan 1-1 Chelsea: It's the Season for Giving

Here we go. Christmas has arrived. Chelsea Football Club are world renowned for their charity work - Right to Play, Help a Capital Child, Chelsea Foundation - helping the disadvantaged and disabled - Their good work continued at the DW stadium last night when Father Christmas aka The Man in the Iron Mask aka Petr Cech handed Wigan an equaliser three minutes from time.

I really do not know what Cech was trying to do.

It was hardly a ball with any pace on it and instead of dropping on it like a fast falling stone, he decided to scoop it away, straight into the path of the on-rushing Gomez who happily and gleefully swept it home to give Wigan a deserved share of the points.

The evening could have been a lot worse for Chelsea.

Ivanovic was very lucky not to have conceded a penalty when a Jones shot clearly hit him on the arm and in the second-half Bosingwa and Di Santo tangled right on the edge of Chelsea's area, but no foul was given.

Add that one to the growing list of decisions that have gone Chelsea's way in recent weeks.

We wondered 'what' Chelsea team would turn up. The team certainly WASN'T the team that beat Money Citeh on Monday night.

This team turned up expecting to beat Wigan, without having to put the effort in.

This team completely showed disregard for Martinez, this team showed lack of class and towards Wigan's starting XI showed contemptible disrepect.

This team was a complete and utter shambles, a team that was fortunate to return to their money filled mansions with a point.

With Tottingham away coming up on Thursday night, you may want to get those tin hats out again and be prepared to hide behind the sofa!!!
